To avoid revealing key plot details, Marvel Studios initially left out eight important characters – including Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter – when they first showed the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. In March 2025, Marvel held a massive, six-hour livestream event to introduce the 27 main cast members, featuring stars like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Robert Downey Jr., and Pedro Pascal. However, it was clear that even more characters haven’t been officially announced yet, as including them would spoil the story.
After the initial announcement about a major character appearing in Avengers: Doomsday in early 2025, fans started speculating about who else would be in the movie. Excitement increased when the first trailers were shown with screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, confirming that several popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be returning.
Every Confirmed Returning Cast Member in Avengers: Doomsday (Not Part of the Chair Reveal)
Chris Evans – Steve Rogers

The next Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, will feature a significant return by Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The recent trailer hinted at what happened after he chose to live a life with Peggy Carter in the past, and this decision seems to have big consequences for the entire Multiverse, potentially making him a target for Doctor Doom.
Steve Rogers coming back in Avengers: Doomsday opens up possibilities for team-ups and seeing old friends again, but it also seems to be building towards a direct showdown – and possibly another conflict – with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, reminiscent of Civil War.
Hayley Atwell – Peggy Carter

It’s widely expected that Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday, largely due to her character’s history with Steve Rogers. Deadline confirmed in December 2024 that Atwell is set to appear in the movie.
It’s unclear exactly how important Peggy Carter will be in the Doomsday movie, but there were earlier reports that she’ll have a significant role. Some believe she might even play a different version of herself, like Captain Carter from the What If…? series, which would fit with the huge danger facing the entire multiverse.
Seeing Peggy and Steve finally fight as a team with the other Avengers against Doctor Doom would be really exciting.
Benedict Cumberbatch – Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch mentioned in a January 2025 interview with Business Insider that he’d be back for Avengers: Doomsday, leading fans to wonder what part he’ll play in the next big Marvel movie.
It’s interesting to see Doctor Strange back in Avengers: Doomsday, especially since we last saw him in Doctor Strange 2 teaming up with Clea to prevent a dangerous event called an incursion.
Having spent time in the Dark Dimension with an unexpected partner, Strange is fundamentally altered, making him an unpredictable factor when facing Doomsday.
India Hemsworth – Love

The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday showed that Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor, and surprisingly, his adopted daughter Love – who first appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder – will also be in the movie.
I’m really excited to see Chris Hemsworth’s daughter, India, playing Love! From what I’ve heard, she’ll have an important part to play, even if it’s not a huge one. It sounds like Thor will leave her safely with some of his Asgardian friends in New Asgard while he’s off saving the multiverse with the Avengers. It’s sweet knowing she’ll be looked after while he’s gone!
Mabel Cadena – Namora

I was so excited to see the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer, and it definitely confirmed what I’d hoped – Mabel Cadena is back as Namora! She’s Namor’s most trusted advisor, and we see her alongside the other Talokans after their home underwater was completely emptied. It really makes sense now why Namor is so furious in the trailer – losing their entire country like that would make anyone angry!
Namora and the people of Talokan might team up to help protect Earth-616 from Doctor Doom’s plans.
Alex Livinalli – Attuma

Attuma, a key advisor to Namor, will appear alongside Namora and the other Talokans in Avengers: Doomsday. Like Namora, Attuma (played by Alex Livinalli, 42) is predicted to help defend Earth-616 against the major multiversal danger that arises at the end of the movie.
Franklin Richards’ Actor

The end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps hinted that Doctor Doom is after Franklin Richards, likely because he plans to take over the Multiverse. Most fans now expect Franklin to appear in Avengers: Doomsday too, as he seems central to Doom’s overall plan.
Franklin’s involvement might be the reason the Fantastic Four traveled to Earth-616. It’s also possible that Doctor Doom tricked them into seeking help from other heroes, framing it as a mission to “save” the Multiverse using Franklin’s powers.
Actor for Steve Rogers’ Baby

The initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday revealed that Captain America (Steve Rogers) will have a child in the movie. Considering the complex Multiverse storyline and the existence of alternate versions of characters, we might see an older version of Steve Rogers’ son or daughter in Doomsday, potentially playing a key role in the fight against Doctor Doom. You can find more details about the six possible children of Captain America who could appear in Avengers: Doomsday elsewhere.
