The Hulk is joining Spider-Man in a new team-up, and his look is exactly what fans would expect. Over the years in Marvel movies, two actors have played the Hulk. Edward Norton first portrayed Bruce Banner in the 2008 film, The Incredible Hulk. Later, Mark Ruffalo took over the role in 2012’s The Avengers and has played him ever since.
Mark Ruffalo is confirmed to reprise his role as the Hulk in at least one future Marvel Cinematic Universe film. He’s expected to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for 2026, alongside Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Even sooner, in 2025, a separate Spider-Man project will bring the Hulk and Spider-Man together, giving fans the team-up they’ve been waiting for a year ahead of the movie.
Marvel Has Revealed What New Avengers Special’s Hulk Looks Like
The most recent Marvel show to debut on Disney+ in 2025 was season 4 of Spidey and his Amazing Friends, which became available on November 26th. Although Hulk isn’t featured in these initial episodes—more of the series will be released in 2026—the character does appear in a different Spidey production.
Marvel has created a special team-up adventure bringing together the characters from Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. Called Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up, the special features Spidey and Iron Man alongside other popular heroes like Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America (Sam Wilson), and the Hulk.
I really like how they designed the Hulk for this animated special! He’s got a really classic look – just green skin and those iconic purple shorts. It’s cool they went for a simpler version, since this is aimed at a younger audience and isn’t the super-angry Hulk we’re used to. But, I heard that Spider-Man: Brand New Day might bring back the Savage Hulk, which is awesome for fans like me who miss that side of him!
How The New Avengers Special’s Hulk Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Hero?
As a huge cinema fan, I’ve seen a lot of Hulks over the years, and honestly, the version in ‘Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up’ just feels right. It really nails the classic look – you know, the instantly recognizable green skin and purple shorts. It’s a wonderfully basic, iconic design that a lot of other adaptations seem to stray from.
The Hulk’s shorts have a surprisingly varied history – sometimes they’re depicted as pants! While often green in movies, comics and cartoons have shown him in other colors, even grey. Interestingly, in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner is seen holding his signature purple shorts, but he never actually puts them on. Later, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk wears a lighter, faded version of the purple pants. The recent Spider-Man crossover is particularly faithful to the comic book look.
