Marvel Confirms Thunderbolts* Funny Scene With Bucky Was Totally An Accident

Okay, everyone’s hyped for the next Avengers movie, and rightfully so! But I’ve been thinking about how good Thunderbolts actually was. Seriously, it’s one of the best things Marvel’s done lately. The action was fantastic, it had some genuinely touching moments, and I was laughing out loud a lot – and apparently, some of the funniest stuff wasn’t even in the original plan! It just proves how well everything came together.

Marvel recently shared a fun fact on Twitter about a funny moment in Thunderbolts. It turns out the scene wasn’t originally scripted! Something unexpected happened during filming, but the actors played along, and it worked out so well that it made the final cut of the movie. You should definitely check it out!

Later in the movie, after a devastating first fight with Sentry, the Avengers are left defeated and leave their old headquarters. Ghost is carrying Bucky’s metal arm, which was torn off during the battle. Ghost was meant to deliver the arm at an earlier time, but the opportunity passed, forcing them to go back and return it.

It’s a small but enjoyable scene that should stay in the film. Considering everything the group had just experienced, it’s believable that Ghost wouldn’t notice she was carrying someone else’s arm until someone pointed it out.

Lots of social media accounts share fun facts about movies, but as James Gunn pointed out, they aren’t always correct. This particular fact, because it comes straight from Marvel, is likely accurate – either it was part of the script, or it really happened as described.

You’ll be seeing the team known as the Thunderbolts (also recently called The New Avengers) again soon. The whole group is scheduled to appear in the 2026 Avengers: Doomsday movie. Although several short trailers have been released highlighting individual characters, none have focused on the New Avengers, so it’s unclear how they’ll fit into the plot. However, many believe the post-credits scene from the Thunderbolts movie – which seems to show the Fantastic Four entering our universe – is actually a clip from Doomsday.

I’m really excited to see this superhero team continue working together. They have great chemistry on screen, and I’m confident we’ll see many more fantastic scenes, even if they aren’t always scripted.
