Marvel Confirms Dead MCU Character Will Return Soon

A character previously believed to be deceased in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will return in Phase 6. The revival of the Daredevil: Born Again series brought back several original cast members, including Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. A surprising move in the new Daredevil season was the death of Foggy Nelson – Matt Murdock’s longtime friend and partner – early in the series, despite him being a regular character in the original show.

Even after the actor’s departure, there was speculation that Foggy Nelson might still appear in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Reports about his involvement in the MCU’s future have been inconsistent, with Henson initially denying his return at L.A. Comic-Con. However, he has since walked back that statement.

At New York Comic-Con, Marvel Studios’ head of television, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Jamie Henson, who plays Foggy Nelson, will be back for Season 2 of Born Again. Winderbaum explained that Henson’s earlier statements denying his involvement were likely because he didn’t want to accidentally reveal plot details or violate his non-disclosure agreement – something actors frequently worry about.

Other Dead Marvel Characters Who Are Returning in Phase 6

Loki

Loki, the mischievous god from Marvel movies, has seemingly died multiple times. While Thanos initially killed the main version of Loki, a time-travel adventure in Avengers: Endgame created an opportunity for him to return. This led to his own TV series on Disney+, which explores the multiverse.

After becoming the God of Stories and taking on the responsibility of maintaining the Multiverse at the conclusion of Loki Season 2, Tom Hiddleston’s character will appear in Avengers: Doomsday as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Vision

Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War was a deeply sad moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it caused Wanda Maximoff immense grief, as seen in WandaVision. That series also set the stage for Vision’s return. The organization SWORD rebuilt his body, creating White Vision, but Wanda was able to break him free from their control.

In Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vision will star in his own series, Vision Quest, where he’ll embark on a quest to recover his lost memories and, hopefully, become the hero fans remember.

Ultron

I’m really excited for the future of the MCU! Remember Ultron, the villain from Avengers: Age of Ultron? We thought we were done with him, but apparently, he’s coming back! He’ll be one of the AIs Vision has to deal with during his Vision Quest storyline in 2026. It’s going to be awesome to see how that plays out!

Raza

Raza, played by Faran Tahir, was a key figure in the Ten Rings, the group responsible for kidnapping Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie. This event ultimately inspired Stark to build his Iron Man suit. However, Raza was secretly collaborating with Tony’s business partner, Obadiah Stane. Their partnership fell apart, leaving Raza paralyzed and believed to be dead.

Tahir will be back as Raza in the 2026 Disney+ series Vision Quest, making him another character brought back from the MCU’s past. This is a historic moment for the MCU.

Cyclops

James Marsden played Cyclops as a key member of the X-Men in the first three movies, but his character was killed by Jean Grey. However, the film X-Men: Days of Future Past altered the timeline, bringing Cyclops back for a brief appearance with Marsden reprising his role.

Cyclops is coming back to life as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and actor Tim Marsden will once again play his role from the X-Men movies in the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday.

Professor X

Professor X, who leads the X-Men, has died multiple times in various movies and shows. He’s been killed by Jean Grey in X-Men: The Last Stand, in the dystopian future of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and in the film Logan. A different version of him dies in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and when the X-Men ’97 series starts, he’s already deceased.

Charles Xavier, along with other X-Men, is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday. It’s currently unknown if this will involve bringing back the original Xavier from previous movies, or if a different version of the character will appear in the new Marvel film.

Tommy Maximoff

Although Wanda destroyed the reality she created in Westview, tragically causing the deaths of her sons, Tommy and Billy, it was revealed that their spirits survived. Both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha Harkness confirmed the twins’ souls were reborn in new bodies.

When Tommy’s spirit enters the body of a deceased teenager named Tommy Shepherd, he’s brought back to life. Actor Ruaridh Mollica will portray this revived Tommy in the upcoming series, Vision Quest.

Foggy Nelson

Foggy Nelson’s death at the hands of Bullseye was a major turning point, leading Daredevil to retire in the most recent season. It’s currently unknown how Marvel will handle the character in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. While flashbacks could bring the character back, or perhaps reveal Foggy actually survived, his confirmed return for Season 2 – as part of the MCU’s Phase 6 – makes him one of many previously deceased characters being brought back in this new phase.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will follow directly after the first, as Matt Murdock builds a team to oppose Wilson Fisk’s efforts to crack down on vigilantes in New York City. Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones, a fan-favorite character from The Defenders. The season is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026.

Bonus: Invisible Woman

Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, is a central figure in the Fantastic Four. Following the birth of her son, Franklin Richards, as depicted in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Sue exerted the full extent of her abilities to protect him from Galactus. This immense effort left her critically weakened, causing her heart to stop. Fortunately, Franklin’s unique powers quickly brought her back to life, enabling her to continue fighting alongside her teammates in Avengers: Doomsday.
