Mariah Carey Sings ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ to Kick Off Netflix’s NFL Christmas Games

As a seasoned film enthusiast who’s spent countless winter nights huddled around the television set for the annual holiday movie marathon, I must say, this year has been nothing short of extraordinary! Mariah Carey’s performance on NFL Christmas Gameday was the cherry on top of an already festive season.

She’s thawed and all set to play her part. For the first time ever, an NFL game on Christmas was streamed on Netflix, and Mariah Carey made the opening act with a pre-recorded rendition of “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.

Watch her performance here.

Carey’s performance was broadcast before both the Kansas City Chiefs versus Pittsburgh Steelers game at 1 p.m. Eastern Time and the Baltimore Ravens versus Houston Texans game at 4:3.00 p.m. Eastern Time. Interestingly, Carey, known as the “elusive chanteuse,” wasn’t the only popular musician performing on Netflix that day. Earlier it was announced that Beyoncé would be performing in her hometown of Houston during the halftime show for the Ravens versus Texans game.

On Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs, under the leadership of Patrick Mahomes, were dominating with a record of 14-1, significantly outperforming the Steelers who stood at 10-4. As the current two-time Super Bowl winners, they overcame Russell Wilson and the Steelers, winning 29-10. This victory secured them the No. 1 seed in the AFC, granting them a rest week before the NFL playoffs. The Chiefs aim to make history by being the first team to win three Super Bowls consecutively in the upcoming playoffs.

On December 9th, Mariah Carey’s classic Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas is You” spent its 15th consecutive week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and regained the top position on Billboard’s Holiday 100 list. Following her “Christmas Time” tour, which ended with a snowy performance in Brooklyn this week, Carey is set to perform at NFL Christmas Gameday.
