Apple TV has given us a first look and announced the release date for its new series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Elle Fanning. The series, created by David E. Kelley and produced by A24, is adapted from a novel by Rufi Thorpe. Elle Fanning plays Margo Millet, with Michelle Pfeiffer as her mother, Shyanne, and Nick Offerman as her father, Jinx.
Apple TV has announced the premiere of Margo’s Got Money Troubles, with the first three episodes launching on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Early photos from the show feature Fanning as Margo, who is visibly pregnant, and alongside her mother, Shyanne, played by Pfeiffer.
The series follows Margo, a 20-year-old trying to launch a writing career. She comes from an unconventional family – her mom used to be a Hooters waitress and her dad was a professional wrestler – and recently left college. Her life gets even more complicated when she discovers she’s pregnant by one of her professors. Facing mounting bills and the threat of eviction, Margo turns to OnlyFans to support herself and her new baby.
A woman reluctantly lets her long-absent father move in, primarily because she needs help with childcare. Surprisingly, his experience from his past life in professional wrestling starts to influence the unique identity she’s building online. Get a sneak peek at photos from Margo’s Got Money Troubles below.

The new show, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, will have eight episodes, starting with a three-episode premiere and then releasing new episodes every Wednesday. The cast includes Nicole Kidman, who is also an executive producer, along with Thaddea Graham, Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear (an Academy and Emmy Award winner), Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington.
Kelley is the showrunner and a writer, and also executive produces the series alongside Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, Brittany Kahan Ward (Lewellen Pictures), Nicole Kidman and Per Saari (Blossom Films), and Matthew Tinker (David E. Kelly Productions). Michelle Pfeiffer, Thorpe, Eva Anderson, and Boo Killebrew are also executive producers. Dearbhla Walsh, a BAFTA and Emmy Award winner, directed the first episode and is also an executive producer.
As Apple TV adds more character-focused dramas, Margo’s Got Money Troubles arrives during a period where the platform is prioritizing stories about complex and imperfect characters. Given A24’s distinctive filmmaking style and Kelley’s track record with emotionally rich shows like Big Little Lies and Love & Death, this series is likely to closely follow the book’s honest and personal portrayal of Margo’s experiences.
The series captures the spirit of the book, with its mix of funny, chaotic moments and realistic portrayal of class differences, the burdens of adulthood, and the struggle to get by. It’s a faithful adaptation, and gives Saoirse Fanning a chance to deliver a powerful, dramatic performance – one of her strongest since The Great. These first glimpses of the show are exciting for fans who have been eager to see the story come to life on screen.
Thanks to a talented cast, A24’s unique filmmaking style, and Apple TV’s focus on stories about interesting characters, Margo’s Got Money Troubles is already generating a lot of excitement for its 2026 release.
