Fans of Jason Voorhees will definitely want to check this out. He’s a legendary figure, and for good reason. For generations, he’s been a central figure in discussions about the greatest horror villains, and rightfully so, because of
So, do you want the good news first, or the bad news?
Great news for fans of the Friday the 13th franchise: several movies will be available to stream on Peacock starting March 1st! However, don’t get too excited just yet – only two films will be added initially, and they won’t be released at the same time.
- Friday the 13th — check.
- Friday the 13th: Part III — check.
Fans of the Scream movies owe a debt to Friday the 13th – and even earlier films like Halloween and its villain, Michael Myers. These movies made the idea of being alone in the woods, or even going to summer camp, truly frightening. Even now, the name Camp Crystal Lake brings to mind images of murdered teens and counselors, accompanied by that iconic and chilling “ch ch ch ha ha ha” sound.
Friday the 13th Is Coming to Peacock, But Something Big Is Missing
Wait, what gives, Peacock? No love for Friday the 13th: Part II??
It feels strange to jump straight to the third movie and skip the second one entirely! While it’s a little disappointing, it’s good that fans of Jason and Friday the 13th are finally getting another installment, even if the way they’re doing it is unusual.
Not that Jason Voorhees needs an introduction, let’s do a quick recap of his greatness.
The first Friday the 13th movie came out in 1980 and launched a long-running series of horror films. The story begins with a boy who suffered abuse from his mother and tragically drowned in Camp Crystal Lake. He returns as a vengeful spirit and begins killing camp counselors, starting on, predictably, Friday the 13th in June.
Even now, the date still frightens many people, and the series has grown to include 13 installments—an ironic number, considering the title. It’s even featured crossovers with other famous horror characters like Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street and Ash from Evil Dead. Now, Peacock just needs to finish the original trilogy, and adding Friday the 13th: Part II would be a perfect first step.
Let’s be real, not every movie is a masterpiece. I mean, do we need something like Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan? Probably not. But it exists, and honestly, I’m not going to complain about having more movies to watch – ch ch ch ha ha ha! It’s a guilty pleasure, I guess.
