Marathon’s mysterious Cryo Archive map is hidden by a puzzle

Bungie is slowly showing off the new Cryo Archives map for Marathon through an interactive online game (ARG). They’ve launched a website that’s progressively adding security camera footage from the map, giving players a sneak peek.

The website features a simulated cargo terminal with security camera footage. These cameras turn on one by one, offering players quick glimpses of the new area. This location promises to have valuable, high-level weapons and items.

Marathon ARG shows first looks at Cryo Archives map

The Cryo Archives facility is monitored by multiple surveillance cameras covering various areas. As more cameras come online, players gain access to a wider view of the map and its surroundings.

The video reveals the inside of what looks like a large refrigerated storage facility. It shows hallways, areas for cargo, and rooms packed with machinery, indicating the facility – located within the ship called Marathon – is likely used for storage or research.

As of writing, nine camera feeds showing the Cryo Archive map have come online.

The first part of the ARG challenged players to quickly activate several terminals on the Perimeter map. Now that this initial challenge is done, it’s unclear what players will need to do next to progress the story.

Bungie has a history of teasing new content, particularly in Destiny 2 and the original Destiny, by using alternate reality games (ARGs). Examples include Niobe Labs and the hidden Exotic questline in Wrath of the Machine.
