A man in Libya recently received a shipment of Nokia phones he originally ordered way back in 2010 – a full 16 years later! The story has quickly spread online.
People online shared photos and videos of unopened, original Nokia phones being taken out of their boxes.
The shipment was originally ordered before the start of the Libyan civil war in 2011, which caused major disruptions to shipping, infrastructure, and global trade.
Why the shipment was delayed
These phones were likely ordered when Libya’s shipping routes were still operating normally. However, as conflict increased and borders shut down, many shipments – including this one – were delayed, misplaced, or stuck in storage with no clear future.
According to NDTV, the sender and recipient of the package lived within a few kilometers of each other in Tripoli, Libya.
A Libyan phone dealer’s order of Nokia phones from 2010 has finally arrived, incredibly, 16 years later. The shipment had been held up in warehouses due to Libya’s long period of instability, getting stuck when the country’s civil war began in 2011.

The package unexpectedly turned up in 2026, and video showed the person receiving it shocked and delighted to finally have their order after so long.
I saw this video popping up everywhere online, but it doesn’t have any subtitles or a translation, so I’m not entirely sure what everyone’s saying. What’s cool is the phones they’re using – they look like old Nokia handsets, the really tough ones that used to last forever and had amazing battery life!
Since the late 2000s, iPhones and Samsung phones have become extremely common. However, Nokia continues to make affordable phones through HMD, and recently announced they’re bringing back the classic Nokia 3210, originally released in 2024.
