James Gunn hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, but production is moving forward. Rumors suggest Brainiac will be the main villain, and a list of potential actors for the role has recently appeared online.
According to Nexus Point News, Claes Bang (known for Dracula), Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), and Sam Rockwell (Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die) are being considered to play Brainiac in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. While no decision has been made and other actors are likely also in the running, Bang has been previously linked to the role, giving this rumor some credibility. Matt Smith often plays villains, and his connection to House of the Dragon co-star Milly Alcock – who is expected to appear in Man of Tomorrow – could be a factor in his consideration.
The upcoming movie, Man of Tomorrow, will feature Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) working together to save Earth from a major danger. While director James Gunn hasn’t officially confirmed Brainiac as the villain, he hasn’t dismissed the rumors either, which suggests it’s likely. Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane, with Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Other members of the Justice League are also expected to appear. With production starting, more details are expected to be revealed soon. Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.
