A TikTok video showing a 24-year-old man discovering his name is the same as the character Kyle from South Park has become hugely popular, racking up more than eight million views.
A video posted by Kyle’s wife, Vanessa, on October 26th captures his shocked reaction when his mother first told him the news.
At a family get-together, Kyle was stunned when his mother explained the story behind his name.
She shared that she and her husband both loved the name Kyle, inspired by the character from South Park, and it was the only name they could agree on for their child. Kyle, upon hearing this, jokingly said he needed another two beers to take it all in.
A post by Vanessa quickly gained attention after she shared a surprising conversation: her mother-in-law revealed to her husband that his name came from the cartoon South Park. Despite the unexpected origin, his mother assured him the story was true, explaining she and his father were big fans of the show when he was a child.
TikTok users react to the South Park twist
The video has gone viral, racking up over a million likes and more than 7,000 comments. Many viewers joked that Kyle’s reaction in the video was just like the animated character he’s named after. Some also playfully noted that babies named after characters from South Park are now old enough to be of drinking age, highlighting how long the show has been popular.
Some commenters even joked that “if he’s Kyle, then she must be Kyle’s mom.”
One user pointed out that the name is appropriate because searching for ‘Kyle’ on South Park compilation sites mostly shows clips of his most embarrassing moments.
Someone commented that realizing he’s old enough to drink, and shares a name with a character from South Park, made them feel their age.
A woman in San Francisco gained attention online in September for a unique service: she helps couples choose baby names. However, it comes at a high price – she charges $30,000 for her expertise.
