Man convicted of deadly stabbing with Counter-Strike 2 knife

A man in Estonia has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a deadly stabbing. The knife used in the attack was designed to look like a weapon skin from the video game Counter-Strike 2.

This case involves a death that occurred in November 2023 in Jõgeva, Estonia, a town of about 5,000 residents.

So, I was reading about this case, and apparently, Romet Kasemaa is accused of intentionally killing someone after they had a fight. At first, it looked like he might have been acting in self-defense, but the prosecutors showed evidence in court that suggested it was actually a planned attack – he supposedly wanted to punish the other guy. It’s pretty messed up, honestly.

Photos released by Estonian prosecutors on Facebook reveal the victim was stabbed with a knife designed to resemble a skin from the video game Counter-Strike.

Imitation Counter-Strike knife used in real murder

This is a real-life version of the Case Hardened Karambit, a popular cosmetic knife skin from the game Counter-Strike. It’s known for its unique curved blade and colorful pattern.

Kasemaa was sentenced to eight years in prison, but because of a faster legal process, his sentence was reduced. He will ultimately serve a little over five years.

During the trial, prosecutor Maarja-Liisa Kõiv explained what happened: the victim was able to defend against the first attack.

According to the evidence, the victim initially deflected the first attack with their hand, and injuries to their right hand show they actively fought back. However, the second blow proved fatal. Kõiv stated that the court believed it was possible the victim managed to get away from the attacker.

While no verdict can bring back the victim, the prosecutor stated that the pursuit of justice sends a strong message: law enforcement will uncover the truth, and the person responsible will eventually face consequences.
