A man is taking legal action against his wife, alleging she stole nearly $200 million worth of Bitcoin from him. He claims he had to install hidden cameras in their home to investigate the theft.
Over the past few years, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have grown into a significant industry. While some of the first investors have become very wealthy, attracting others hoping to profit, it’s important to remember the market is often unstable and prices change frequently.
As Bitcoin’s value has increased, so have crimes targeting people who own it. Thieves are increasingly breaking into the homes of those who’ve become wealthy from cryptocurrency, and popular streamer Amouranth is a well-known example of this trend.
In the UK, Ping Fai Yuen claims his wife, Fun Yung Li, stole his Bitcoins, and he says she used their home security cameras to do it.
Bitcoin allegedly stolen via CCTV
Court documents from March 2026 show that Fai Yuen reported a theft of 2,323 Bitcoin—worth around $172 million—occurred in 2023, and he accused his wife of being responsible.
Fai Yuen’s oldest daughter warned him that Yung Li was attempting to steal his Bitcoin. This prompted Fai Yuen to secretly install listening devices in Yung Li’s home.
He found that the Bitcoin stolen through his recovery phrase had been spread across 71 different blockchain addresses, but surprisingly, no one has moved those funds in over two years.

Fai Yung reportedly attacked his wife after discovering the Bitcoin was stolen and was arrested as a result. He admitted guilt to the assault charges, but the current legal case is still ongoing.
This isn’t the first time Bitcoin has been stolen, but it’s one of the most significant incidents. Just last month, around $5 million in stolen cryptocurrency was stolen again due to an error by South Korean officials.
In late 2025, a thief stole $11 million in Bitcoin in San Francisco by posing as a delivery driver to get inside a home.
