Man breaks world record by eating at 28 Michelin-star restaurants in 24 hours

A Las Vegas man now holds the Guinness World Record for visiting the most Michelin-starred restaurants in a single day. He dined at 28 different restaurants in 24 hours, spending more than $1,000.

Joshua Fyksen, a sommelier, once held the record for visiting the most restaurants, having gone to 22 in 2023. However, Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Rajnish Kumar Tripathi broke his record in 2024 by dining at 25 restaurants in Hong Kong.

Fyksen went back to New York, where he’d set the record before, hoping to beat it again. He meticulously planned his route, considering what he would order, how much time he had, and whether restaurants had tables available.

Fyksen reveals the bill

He explained that while Eleven Madison Park is known for its lengthy tasting menu, their smaller bar area actually serves a few light snacks.

I reached out to a number of restaurants that usually don’t allow individual orders, requesting special arrangements. A handful agreed, and a few even offered to open earlier just for me, but most wouldn’t change their standard procedures.

Fyksen started his challenge at Oxomoco in Brooklyn and finished it at Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan, the 28th restaurant he visited. This secured his record once more.

Fyksen, who had his record verified by Guinness World Records, admitted he hadn’t fully calculated the total cost of his achievement, and maybe didn’t want to! He did reveal that the food itself cost $976.97, with an additional $474.37 spent on getting between restaurants.

Fyksen really loved the food. He specifically praised the Jonah crab salad with apple and wasabi at Le Pavillon, the scallop dumpling with English peas and foie gras at Tuome, and the tortellini pomodoro at Torissi. He added that he enjoyed every single dish he tried this time.
