Police in Auckland, New Zealand, have arrested a man accused of stealing a $19,000 Fabergé egg. He claims to have swallowed it, and authorities are now waiting for proof of his statement.

A man in Auckland, New Zealand, says he swallowed a $19,000 Fabergé egg after stealing it. This particular egg is a limited-edition Fabergé x 007 Octopussy pendant, and only 50 were ever created.
Police say a man swallowed a pendant at Partridge Jewellers in Auckland on November 28th. He was arrested soon after, but authorities are currently verifying his story.

Man set to appear in court again over Fabergé egg theft
The 32-year-old man appeared in court on November 29th regarding the theft, but did not state whether he was guilty or not. He is still being held by the police.
Inspector Grae Anderson told reporters that the man received a medical check-up after his arrest and is now under constant officer supervision. The item they were looking for, a pendant, has not yet been found.
Because this man is in police custody and considering what happened, we need to keep a close watch on him, Anderson explained.
The man is scheduled to return to court on December 8th. Police are hoping they’ll have determined whether he actually swallowed the egg before then, resolving the question naturally.
According to the BBC, the 32-year-old man has been in trouble with this jewelry store before. He was accused of stealing an iPad from them on November 12th.
Recently, there have been some unusual incidents of criminals revisiting the places they previously robbed. For example, a bank robber in Texas returned to the same bank branch he had targeted ten years earlier.
