A man rescued an elderly woman from a burning house, and then his own dog bravely went back inside to save her pet.
On March 6th, Richard Keith Taylor, along with his wife Melanie and their dog Ace, were driving in Cleveland when they noticed a house was on fire.
“The window was glowing with fire,” Taylor recalled. “We had to make sure everyone was out.”
The Cleveland Fire Department reported that a man alerted a woman on her porch by honking his horn. She then unexpectedly went back inside the house, which was on fire.
Okay, so things got intense. I was playing as Taylor, and this house was already on fire. I rushed inside, trying to find this woman trapped inside, and just as I did, a window blew out and the porch roof caught fire! It was a close call, but I managed to grab her and get us both out just in time.
Even though the woman was in danger, Taylor’s dog, Ace, proved to be a hero and ultimately helped save someone’s life.

Taylor decided to walk Ace, realizing the energetic pitbull mix was getting overly stimulated by the fire.
While firefighters put out the fire, Ace started desperately trying to signal that another person – or creature – might still be inside.
Once the fire was contained, the owner, Taylor, secured his dog, Ace, to a fence post by the driveway. Ace immediately started pulling on his leash, intensely sniffing at a boarded-up basement window. Taylor informed the fire chief at the scene that Ace seemed to be alerting him to something he smelled near the window.

I was so relieved when the firefighters found a little dog hiding in a back room! Apparently, it had been behind a closed door and was pretty scared. The best part is, it was totally okay – no smoke or heat got to it, and they got it to safety right away.
Taylor explained he felt he was simply fulfilling a higher purpose, and that he happened to be there when it mattered most.
Cleveland Fire commended the man and his dog for their bravery.
Pets have truly been heroes this year. For example, a tiny 9-week-old kitten named Fred bravely saved its owner from a house fire back in February.
