The show Malcolm in the Middle is back with a revival called Life’s Still Unfair, and the final episode includes a special appearance by Finn Wolfhard.
The beloved sitcom Malcolm in the Middle has returned with a brand new four-part series, now available on Hulu (and Disney+ in the UK).
Frankie Munoz and Bryan Cranston are both returning to their roles in the show, but Erik Per Sullivan declined to come back as Dewey, even though he was offered a significant amount of money.
The last episode of the series includes a surprise appearance by Finn Wolfhard, who you might recognize from Stranger Things. Here’s a rundown of what happens, and how he became involved – but be warned, there are major spoilers ahead!
Finn Wolfhard’s Malcolm in the Middle cameo explained

The new Malcolm in the Middle episodes bring the family back together for Lois and Hal’s 40th wedding anniversary, and the fourth episode focuses on the celebration.
Finn Wolfhard makes a brief appearance at the beginning of the episode as a party planner. Lois is being overly demanding, frustrating him by insisting on improvements to the sound system and requesting extra cables.
Wolfhard’s character responds by saying, “I believe you don’t intend to be threatening, but I’m sensing a growing impatience from you that’s making it hard to talk calmly. Let’s continue this conversation after I’ve calmed down a bit.”
With that, the party planners walks off.
How Life’s Still Unfair cameo came about

Turns out, Wolfhard is a massive Malcolm in the Middle fan, which is how the cameo came about.
I was so excited to hear this story from the show’s creator, Linwood Boomer! Apparently, Finn’s agent reached out to ask if he could come visit the set, and the whole team immediately said yes – it was a definite ‘heck yeah!’ moment.
He really loves the show, so we jokingly asked if he’d be interested in playing a small role that hadn’t been cast yet. He enthusiastically agreed, and we were thrilled he said yes – we thought it would be fantastic to have him on board.
Tracy Katsky, an executive producer on Life’s Still Unfair, fondly remembered the actor, saying he was incredibly charming and fun to watch perform comedy. She described a sweet moment with Jane Kaczmarek, who played Lois, where he became flustered by her character’s intensity. He kept momentarily forgetting his lines, realizing with a chuckle, ‘Oh, I need to act!’ It was a really endearing scene.
You can watch the revival of Malcolm in the Middle, titled ‘Life’s Still Unfair,’ on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ in the United Kingdom. Plus, check out some other fantastic TV shows coming out this month.
