Astro Shaw, a prominent Malaysian film company, is teaming up with Sympatico, a freshly created production label led by Min Lim of Double Vision and Richard Johns of Argo Films. Together they are starting production on their first movie titled “Mojo.
This week, the making of a heartwarming romantic comedy has commenced in Malaysia’s beautiful Perlis region. This production is a remarkable achievement, symbolizing a strong collaboration between Southeast Asian and British filmmakers in terms of cultural exchange.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the Indonesian heartthrob Adipati Dolken (“Shadow Strays”) graces Malaysian screens for the first time in a captivating role as Adi. Sharing the limelight is the enchanting Mimi Lana (“The Experts”), locally renowned for her brilliance. This intriguing narrative interweaves city ambition with rural allure, adding an unanticipated element – a social media-famous bovine named Mojo.
In this tale, Adi, a relentless climber in the corporate world at Moo Magic Farms, propels a unique cow into internet fame while aggressively expanding rural farmholdings. However, his strategic plans take an unexpected twist when he crosses paths with a steadfast farming community and their resolute denizens, among them Ayu (Lana).

Additionally, we have Zahir Omar, known for his work on “Fly by Night”, serving as a creative consultant, and Chi-Ren Choong, an acclaimed writer who has won awards in the past.
As a movie aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that Astro Shaw’s participation in our project adds substantial Malaysian distribution power. On the global front, SC Films International from the UK will take charge of worldwide sales. The film’s production team includes Michelle Chang from Mocha Chai Laboratories and Richard Johns from Sympatico, who have previously worked on films like the Oscar-nominated “Shadow of the Vampire.
As I stand here, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement. You see, this project has been a labor of love, one that I’ve nurtured and cultivated over time, shares Min Lim, the helmer behind the scenes. The mention of Astro Shaw joining us is particularly exhilarating.
This production, dear film enthusiasts, isn’t just about telling a story; it’s about crafting an authentic Malaysian narrative that resonates with audiences worldwide. In essence, we aim to showcase the remarkable storytelling prowess of Southeast Asia on a global stage.
Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, the CEO of Astro Shaw, emphasized the long-standing partnership with Double Vision as a significant reason for his involvement in the production. He expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “The script is brilliant, the cast is exceptional, and there’s a powerful blend of creative minds from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the U.K. Add to that the broader international prospects that Sympatico can offer, and we’re eagerly anticipating where this production might lead us.
The movie will be screened in Malaysian theaters towards the end of 2025 prior to its global debut. Support from Perlis has helped with the film’s creation, as it seeks to highlight the undiscovered cinematic talent within the region.
