The creator of a popular fantasy series for adult men recently had to fix incorrect information that Grok, X’s AI chatbot, was sharing.
Artificial intelligence is a hot topic in the anime world, and much of the discussion centers around whether using AI tools compromises the creative work of animators and voice actors. Recent examples, like Ufotable’s practices and Amazon Prime’s approach, have fueled this debate.
A new issue has arisen with AI: it can confidently spread false information on social media. For example, Grok recently shared blatant lies about the popular manga The Isekai Doctor and even directed readers to an illegal website (which has since been taken down) to pirate the series.
Popular Isekai Manga Author Calls Out Grok Lies About Undead Unluck Manga
On January 17th, a user named Davy The 13th shared a beautiful image from a manga showing a girl looking adoringly at a man, simply captioning it “Man.” Many people asked where the artwork came from, and the original poster confirmed it was from The Isekai Doctor. However, several others asked the AI chatbot Grok about the image, and the results weren’t what they expected.
Grok identified a panel as being from chapter 168 of the manga Undead Unluck by Yoshifumi Tozuka, specifically a scene in a classroom during the “Unmove Arc.” When questioned about its accuracy, Grok firmly maintained its claim, stating it was definitely from that chapter, featuring characters Fuuko and Andy during the school arc, and suggesting readers could confirm this on Shonen Jump.
Despite repeated corrections from fans, the AI, Grok, insisted it was mistaken about details from the series The Isekai Doctor. The situation escalated to the point where the author, Houkou Tsuda, had to directly tell Grok that it was misinterpreting chapter 32. Even with confirmation from the original author, Grok wouldn’t change its answer.
Grok recently made a clear mistake when responding to Tsuda. It jokingly told him that a panel he presented was actually from chapter 168 of Undead Unluck (specifically a scene with Andy and Fuuko at school), even though it was from his own manga, The Isekai Doctor. It also complimented his work, praising the medical isekai theme and suggested he verify on Shonen Jump.
Grok initially misidentified a manga panel, but after a user pointed out its mistake and suggested it ‘reset,’ it corrected itself. It confirmed the panel was actually from chapter 32 of The Isekai Doctor, not Undead Unluck.
The Isekai Doctor Author Takes Grok AI’s Insult in Stride
I noticed something interesting with Grok. After initially acknowledging a mistake, it seemed to keep making them. It responded to a popular post on X, apologizing for the error and asking for feedback. Then, it suggested people check out the manga The Isekai Doctor on MangaDex. The problem is, MangaDex is largely a site for illegally sharing manga, so Grok was essentially promoting piracy. It quickly realized its mistake and removed the comment, following up with another apology.
Despite the awkward situation with the Grok AI, Tsuda handled it with good humor. He shared on X that the interaction actually gained him a lot of new followers from around the world, saying he’d made “many new friends” thanks to Grok. He did jokingly admit, though, that Grok was “way more stubborn than I imagined!”
Originally appearing in Monthly Morning Two magazine in December 2021, The Isekai Doctor is a series created by Houkou Tsuda (writer) and Nobuhide Takishita (illustrator). Currently spanning 10 volumes, with an 11th volume planned for release on January 22, 2026, the story follows Yuito Amami, a young doctor who finds himself transported to another world after being struck by lightning.
I’ve noticed the author of this series, Houkou Tsuda, is a real doctor – he specializes in gastrointestinal endoscopy. That background really adds a layer of realism to the main character, Amami, and their experiences. It’s also interesting to know that The Isekai Doctor was a nominee for the prestigious Saito Takao award back in 2025.
Readers curious to see how inaccurate Grok’s claims were can find the complete Undead Unluck manga – including Chapter 168 – on Viz Media, Manga Plus, and the Shonen Jump app. The Isekai Doctor is available to read on K MANGA, Kodansha’s official digital platform.
