Every year, Wizards of the Coast releases a special, limited-edition set of Magic: The Gathering cards called Secret Lair to raise money for Extra Life, a charity that benefits Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. They do this before Extra Life’s big 24-hour gaming event. This year’s release is special because it will include Play-Doh!
The new Magic: The Gathering set, Secret Lair x Play-Doh: Squishful Thinking, includes reprinted cards with artwork created from actual Play-Doh sculptures. Here are the four cards included in this special drop:
- Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer
- Polyraptor
- Academy Manufactor
- Wurmcoil Engine
We’ve created something unique for Extra Life 2025: a Secret Lair collaboration with Play-Doh! This drop will feature artwork actually made with Play-Doh. Half of all proceeds will go to support Extra Life and the families at Seattle Children’s Hospital. 🦖 Check out a detailed look at the card!

For the seventh year in a row, Wizards of the Coast is releasing a special Secret Lair collection to support Extra Life. Past collections have included unique cards illustrated with artwork created by patients at Seattle Children’s Autism Center (in 2021 and 2022), two sets inspired by My Little Pony (in 2019 and 2023), and last year’s release featuring pixel art by veteran Magic: The Gathering artist Mike Burns.
Okay, so Wizards is doing a really cool thing – a Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop with Play-Doh called ‘Squishful Thinking’! I can grab it on the Secret Lair site from September 29th to November 9th. It’s $40 for the regular cards and $50 if I want the shiny rainbow foil versions. But get this – if I’m heading to MagicCon: Atlanta from September 26th to 28th, I might be able to snag it there too, but it sounds like they’ll have a limited number of copies.
A new Secret Lair superdrop focused on Marvel’s Spider-Man is coming on September 22nd. It won’t be the only Secret Lair release, and it will include six separate drops, each with five cards. These cards are reprints of classic Magic: The Gathering cards, but feature artwork inspired by Spider-Man and his famous villains.
