Nesting Games has unveiled The Directorate: Novitiate, a title where you lead the character Kana Luna. During the day, Kana lives an ordinary life as a young woman in Los Angeles in 2006. However, under cover of darkness, Kana adopts the alias Mercury and becomes a magical hitman for the city’s criminal element. In the trailer below, you can see Mercury utilizing her combat and magical abilities to battle human adversaries and otherworldly dangers.
In the game, Kana has the potential to enhance her magical skills, broadening her combat strategies beyond just gunfire. Notably, she can blend spells into her offensive maneuvers too. The game’s narrative will alternate between two realms: Mercury’s nocturnal pursuits, such as tracking a spectral serial killer, and Kana’s day-to-day life during the daytime.
Beyond her work duties, Kana has the freedom to develop friendships or romantic relationships with those she encounters. Yet, such connections could potentially put Kana’s loved ones at risk when these different aspects of her life intertwine. As per Nesting Games, players will eventually be given the chance to decide if Mercury remains faithful to “the Edicts of the Directorate” or continues to uphold her human qualities as Kana. The decisions made will influence how Mercury is portrayed in the game.
