Madea’s Destination Wedding and 4 More Tyler Perry Projects Coming to Netflix in 2025

2025 promises to be an exciting year for me as a fan, with no less than five amazing productions from Tyler Perry heading to Netflix! I can hardly wait to see “Madea’s Destination Wedding,” a heartwarming event that will surely bring laughter and tears. The new comedy series “She The People” looks like it’ll be a fresh and funny take on today’s world.

I’m also eagerly anticipating the return of the hit drama series “Beauty in Black” with its gripping storylines and powerful performances. Taraji P. Henson stars in “Straw,” another captivating production that I can’t wait to see unfold. Last but not least, “R&B,” a faith-based film, promises to be an uplifting experience for me as a viewer. Here’s to an incredible 2025 filled with fantastic entertainment from Tyler Perry on Netflix!

These projects bring the total to six movies and a second season from Perry’s collaboration with Netflix, signed in 2023. This partnership allows him to script, direct, and produce films, TV series, and faith-based productions for the streaming platform.

The second film from the Madea series, titled ‘Madea’s Destination Wedding,’ is now available on Netflix. Previously, ‘A Madea Homecoming’ topped the global chart for top English-language films in 2022 and remained there for four consecutive weeks.

On this occasion, Madea, portrayed by Perry, along with her team consisting of Aunt Bam (Cassi Davis Patton), Cora (Tamela J. Mann), Mr. Brown (David Mann), and Joe (once more, Perry) embark on a journey to the beautiful Bahamas for the wedding featured in the title. This is not your typical nuptial celebration, but rather a hasty shotgun wedding. The narrative unfolds when Madea’s nephew Brian, who also happens to be Joe’s son (played by Perry), and his ex-wife Debrah (Taja V. Simpson) discover that their daughter Tiffany (Diamond White) is about to wed a rapper she met on a yacht, and the wedding is just two weeks away.

The movie additionally stars Jermaine Harris and Xavier Smalls, with production handled by Perry, Angi Bones, and Yolanda T. Cochran.

In Perry’s latest show titled “She The People,” Terri J. Vaughn portrays Antoinette Dunkerson, a woman who wins a campaign for Lieutenant Governor. The plot summary indicates that she must navigate through a challenging role under a sexist and patronizing governor, all while managing her family’s public image as they now find themselves in the spotlight.

Perry was responsible for both writing, directing, and producing the series. The cast includes Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and Jo Marie Payton. Keisha Lance Bottoms, former mayor of Atlanta, serves as executive producer along with Niya Palmer and Vaughn. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland are also set to produce for Tyler Perry Studios.

In the realm of my creative pursuits, I’m thrilled to share that “She The People,” my second offering on Netflix, follows “Beauty in Black” which soared to the top of the global English-language TV charts just after its October premiere. You can catch part 2 of “Beauty in Black” on March 6. This captivating series, penned, helmed, and produced by me, revolves around two compelling characters: Kimmie (portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams), who’s grappling with life after being kicked out by her mother, and Mallory (played by Crystle Stewart), who’s thriving in business. Our lives become unexpectedly intertwined as the story unfolds.

The ensemble features Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook, and Ts Madison.

Or, in a more casual tone:

The lineup includes Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook, and Ts Madison.

Both versions convey the same information in a clear, easy-to-understand way.

In their fourth film collaboration, Tyler Perry and Forest Whitaker join forces once more, since their last project together in 2018, “Acrimony.” Prior to that, they worked on “The Family That Preys” (2008) and “I Can Do Bad All by Myself” (2009). In this new movie, they are using “Straw” as the title.

In Perry’s drama, Henson portrays a single mother who encounters a string of misfortunes, pushing her onto an unforeseen journey. The movie’s tagline describes her predicament as fighting against circumstances she can’t control, leading her into a situation she never anticipated. Driven by desperation, she finds herself under scrutiny in a world that appears indifferent to her life.

Completing the ensemble of the movie’s actors are Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Glynn Turman, Sinbad, and Rockmond Dunbar.

The movie titled “R&B” is the inaugural project from Perry and DeVon Franklin’s extended agreement aimed at creating a series of faith-centric films.

Under the direction of Alanna Brown, renowned for “Trees of Peace” and “Blindspotting,” and penned by Mike Elliott (“Brown Sugar,” “Just Wright,” “Like Mike”) and Cory Tynan (“Play’d: A Hip Hop Story”), this intriguing project reimagines one of the most enduring love stories from the Bible, that of Ruth and Boaz. As suggested in its summary, the movie unfolds in Tennessee, focusing on a young woman who flees the Atlanta music scene to look after an elderly widow. In her care, she not only discovers true love but also gains the maternal figure she had never known before.

In this production, Serayah McNeill, Tyler Lepley, and Phylicia Rashad take the helm of a star-studded cast. Alongside them are talented musicians such as Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, Lecrae Moore, and Yung Joc. The ensemble also includes Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, and Christopher Broughton. The film is overseen by the executive production team of Bones, Strickland, and Bart Lipton.
