Madden May Return To Nintendo With Switch 2, EA CEO Hints

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up! You know what they say? “The best things come to those who wait.” Well, it seems like the wait for Madden NFL on Switch 2 might finally be over! EA CEO Andrew Wilson has dropped some hints that suggest the Madden series could make a comeback on Nintendo‘s new console. Can you believe it’s been almost a decade since we last saw an entry in this sports franchise on a Nintendo platform? That’s right, Madden NFL 13 was the last one, and it graced both Wii and Wii U way back in 2012. So, here’s to hoping for some gridiron action on Switch 2!

During a recent earnings call, Wilson mentioned the Madden and EA Sports FC series for the Switch 2. He stated, “The arrival of a new console always benefits us. It allows us to reach and obtain new players. Historically, our franchises have thrived on Nintendo systems. We anticipate that games like [EA Sports] FC and Madden, among others, could generate significant enthusiasm on this platform, as they have in the past.”

For several years, the EA Sports FC series (previously known as FIFA) has been a popular choice on Nintendo Switch. The most recent edition, EA Sports FC 25, was launched in September. However, soccer games on the Switch have faced significant criticism. On the other hand, the Madden franchise has yet to make an appearance. Overall, EA has been selective about supporting the Switch, with titles like My Sims: Cozy Bundle, It Takes Two, and Apex Legends being released for the console. In the future, EA has hinted at a new Battlefield game, as well as the introduction of Battlefield Labs, a community-testing program. At this point, there’s no indication that a Switch 2 version will be available for the upcoming Battlefield release.

Last month, Nintendo revealed its long-awaited Switch 2, showcasing magnetic Joy-Con controllers and what appears to be a fresh Mario Kart installment. A closer examination of the forthcoming dual-purpose console will take place in April during a Nintendo Direct broadcast.
