Madden 26 Ratings Update For Week 8 – Biggest Winners & Losers

With Week 8 of the NFL season approaching, the player ratings for Madden 26 have been updated. Several players, including Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, and Trey McBride, saw their overall ratings increase. Meanwhile, some other well-known players experienced a drop in their ratings. Here’s a look at the biggest changes this week.

Madden 26 Player Ratings Update For Week 8 – Biggest Winners & Losers

Jonathan Taylor, HB (Indianapolis Colts) – 94 OVR (+1)

Taylor is currently the league’s leading rusher with 697 yards and 10 touchdowns, significantly outpacing his rivals. He’s benefiting from what many consider the best offensive line in the league and is projected to have his most productive rushing season since 2021. The strong play of quarterback Daniel Jones is also contributing to his success.

Trey McBride, TE (Arizona Cardinals) – 94 OVR (+1)

Since Kyler Murray’s injury forced Jacoby Brissett to start at quarterback, tight end Zach McBride has really stepped up his game. Over the past two weeks, he’s made 18 catches for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns. Even when Murray is healthy and playing, McBride consistently gets between 5 and 7 receptions per game, proving he’s a dependable target.

Christian McCaffrey, HB (San Francisco 49ers) – 92 OVR (+1)

McCaffrey hasn’t had a standout rushing season, but his game against the Falcons proved he can still break off big runs, averaging over five yards per carry for a total of 129 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also a major receiving threat, currently ranking eighth in the league in receiving yards and third in receptions. This all-around ability is especially valuable with Brock Purdy injured, giving backup quarterback Mac Jones a reliable target.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR (Seattle Seahawks) – 91 OVR (+2)

The player currently leading the league in receiving yards has exceeded 100 yards in five of seven games this season. He’s become quarterback Sam Darnold’s go-to receiver, averaging ten catches per game. In a recent 27-19 victory against the Houston Texans, he had eight receptions for 123 yards and scored his fourth touchdown of the season.

Will Anderson Jr., LEDG (Houston Texans) – 90 OVR (+1)

Even though the Texans had a tough season in 2025, Anderson Jr. stood out in their Week 7 game. He made a sack on Sam Darnold and recovered the fumble, running it in for a touchdown, which briefly narrowed the gap for Houston. The Texans’ offense didn’t play well overall, making things harder for Anderson and the defense. Still, we believe he’s earned a spot among the top players with a 90 Overall rating.

Drake Maye, QB (New England Patriots) – 83 OVR (+1)

Although several quarterbacks had better ratings this week, Drake Maye deserves recognition for his strong performance. Every Patriots quarterback since Tom Brady retired has faced the challenge of living up to his legacy. While it’s premature to call Maye the greatest of all time, his play this year is certainly worth celebrating.

Additionally, several other players received an increase to their Madden 26 Player Rating:

  • Stefon Diggs – 89 OVR (+1)
  • Jared Goff – 89 OVR (+1)
  • A.J. Brown – 89 OVR (+1)
  • Jalen Hurts – 87 OVR (+1)
  • Jaycee Horn – 87 OVR (+1)
  • Talanoa Hufanga – 85 OVR (+1)

However, other notable players received a decrease to their Madden 26 Player Rating:

  • James Cook II – 91 OVR (-1)
  • Nico Collins – 88 OVR (-1)
  • Baker Mayfield – 88 OVR (-1)
  • Jaire Alexander – 86 OVR (-1)
  • Alvin Kamara – 82 OVR (-2)

Week 8 kicked off last night with a convincing win for the Los Angeles Chargers over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. The Chargers dominated the game, quickly building a 24-3 lead and never letting the Vikings, led by Carson Wentz, catch up. This victory keeps them in contention for the division lead, staying close behind the Broncos.

I’m super excited about Madden 26, and I’ve been checking out some helpful guides on things like passing and catching. Plus, I figured out how to update the rosters so I can play with the latest player info and depth charts – it’s a game changer!
