In an unexpected and touching gesture, game developer EA Sports added the late North Carolina football player Tylee Craft to their latest update for “College Football 25”. This news reached former UNC head coach Mack Brown who expressed his gratitude to EA on social media platform X, along with a picture showing Craft in the video game.
Brown expressed gratitude towards EASPORTSCollege, as they incorporated Tylee Craft into their latest game update. It’s thoughtful of them to consider not only the game community but also Craft’s loved ones.
I’d like to express a heartfelt gratitude to @EASPORTSCollege for incorporating Tylee Craft into their latest game update. It was incredibly thoughtful of them to include him, not only for the enjoyment of the gaming community but also as a special tribute to his family and friends.

On October 12, 2024, Craft passed away after a tough two-year struggle against advanced lung cancer. At the time of his death, he was only 23 years old.
In a statement issued in October, North Carolina Football expressed that Tylee was deeply cherished by many and left an impact on us that we will forever be grateful for. They said he was unique and irreplaceable, even though he won’t physically be with us, his warm smile and boundless positivity will continue to watch over us from above.

In the match-up between North Carolina (Tar Heels) and Georgia Tech, Craft’s fellow wide receiver J.J. Jones decided to wear his number 13 jersey in a gesture of support during the game. Remarkably, Jones managed to score a touchdown in this particular contest. Following suit, other receivers on the team started wearing number 13 as well, taking turns throughout the remainder of the season.
In a recent interview with the UNC site, Jones expressed that Coach is always at the forefront of his thoughts. He greets him every morning and asks him to guide them during practice. It’s as if Coach hasn’t left the team; he continues to be a part of it, staying with us in spirit.
In 2022, I was humbled and honored to receive ESPN’s prestigious Disney Spirit Award. This annual recognition goes out to the most inspiring college football player or team who embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and perseverance.
In the heart of Kenan Football Center lies the Tylee Craft Nutrition Center, a hub where athletes can grab quick bites, beverages, or nutritional supplements.
The craftsmanship was likewise honored during Senior Day – a significant occasion where friends, relatives, spectators, and colleagues could recollect the person who left such a profound impression on them.
Brown shared after the game against Georgia Tech, as reported by The Fayetteville Observer, that this young man battled relentlessly for over two and a half years, surpassing what doctors initially predicted. He did so with resilience, always maintaining a positive attitude, never missing a meeting or practice, and even coaching other young individuals. Truly, he’s an exceptional individual.
