MacBook saves man’s life by absorbing bullet during armed robbery

Okay, so this is crazy! I was reading about this guy in Brazil who was getting robbed at gunpoint, but thankfully, his MacBook Pro actually *stopped* the bullet! Can you believe it? Apparently, the bullet hit his laptop instead of him, and it saved his life. Seriously, my gear might be important to me, but I never expected it to literally be a lifesaver!

On October 1st, a man named Zhang was wrapping up work at an event in Sao Paulo and ordered a taxi to the airport for his flight back to China.

While waiting, he stepped outside for fresh air, a decision that nearly turned fatal.

While Zhang was talking to a client on the phone, he walked to a gas station. Suddenly, a black car arrived, and a man wearing a mask jumped out with a gun. The man snatched Zhang’s bag, which held his passport, wallet, laptop, and important documents, then ran off.

He explained that he quickly turned and ran because his backpack contained important papers and his laptop.

The shooter fired two rounds. Zhang didn’t feel anything and thought they were just blanks. He was wrong, and would realize that later that day.

At the airport several hours later, after filing a police report about his stolen suitcase, he was shocked to find a bullet had hit his laptop during security checks. Luckily, the laptop took the hit, and it probably saved him from being injured.

Police informed Zhang that armed robberies happen frequently in Brazil, and it was unlikely he would get his stolen belongings back.

It’s happened before: ordinary objects have stopped bullets. Just this year, a Pokémon card collector said a deck of Incineroar cards saved them when a neighbor recklessly fired a 9mm bullet into their home.

Back in 2022, someone on Reddit shared a story about their Razer headset saving them – it apparently blocked a bullet that came through a window.
