Ludwig raises over $104,000 for charity in memory of longtime viewer who passed away

Ludwig Ahgren held a charity stream to remember a longtime viewer who recently passed away, and raised over $100,000 for The Trevor Project in the process.

The streamer announced some personal news in two posts on X, explaining how a viewer significantly impacted his career when he was just starting out. In his first post on November 13th, Ludwig shared that this viewer, known as Kanabana, started watching when his streams typically had around 100 people.

He explained that she was a frequent and valued member of his chat, always offering humor and encouragement as he built his streaming career. Ludwig also shared that she was transgender and that his community was one of the few places where she felt safe and accepted expressing her identity.

The charity stream just finished! We raised an incredible $104,000 for The Trevor Project. Rest in peace, Kanabana, and thank you to everyone who donated. I’m so grateful for this amazing community. ❤️

I was really touched to hear that Ludwig is doing a charity stream for the Trevor Project to honor her. He said he’s grateful for everyone who plans to watch or contribute – it’s a really beautiful way to remember her and support a great cause.

Ludwig raises over $100,000

The next day, Ludwig announced the fundraiser had successfully ended, raising a total of $104,000 for the Trevor Project. He expressed his gratitude to all the donors and shared how thankful he was for such a supportive community, again acknowledging Kanabana’s contributions.

I watched Ludwig’s charity stream and it was incredible! It went on for almost fifteen hours over two days, and he played so many different games. He originally said he’d add a new game to the list for every thousand dollars donated, but they raised money so quickly – it ended up in the tens of thousands! – that he had to scrap that idea completely.

During the second day of the charity stream, Ludwig was surprised by how much money had been donated, so he changed his plans. He decided to challenge professional Super Smash Bros. Melee player Zain to a competition – the first to reach 100 wins. Ludwig set a new fundraising goal of $100,000 and promised to dye his hair blonde if they reached it.

The Trevor Project is a nonprofit that helps LGBTQ+ young people in crisis, offering support and working to prevent suicide. While Ludwig didn’t share specifics about Kanabana’s death, his social media posts about it resonated with many, who offered their sympathy and applauded his choice to use the moment to support a good cause.
