Wow, it actually happened! This season of Love Is Blind is the first one ever to end with no couples getting married. We saw two people say no at the altar and another split before even getting there – that’s a first! It also feels like a logical next step for the show, now that so many people realize getting engaged can lead to social media fame. With the show being so popular, these weddings aren’t just about the couple; they’re about public opinion and the potential for criticism if things don’t work out. Even though none of the Denver cast got married, the finale still showed a lot of love – not just romantic love, but strong bonds between family and friends. Let’s dive in and talk about it all!
Ali and Anton
The main source of drama centers around Ali’s decision, as Anton has already indicated he’s willing to marry her despite acknowledging she’s demanding and doesn’t handle household chores. Things look bleak at Ali’s bachelorette party, where her friends worry she’s settling for less because Anton’s job as a truck driver might not meet her standards. However, there are signs Ali might still go through with the wedding. She arrives wearing a matching “Mrs.” hoodie, fulfilling Anton’s wish, and writes him a heartfelt letter. Initially concerned about his lifestyle, she now questions the accuracy of information she received about Anton going out partying and to strip clubs. When her mother voices concerns about Anton’s drinking, Ali defends him, suggesting he deserves understanding. Furthermore, when Anton’s mother praises his character, Ali confidently tells her she loves him and thinks he’s a wonderful person.
The most touching love story isn’t necessarily the romantic one, but the family bonds we see. Anton’s mother goes above and beyond to comfort him, and Ali receives similar support from his mother and sisters. Even though one of Ali’s sisters, Naiara, initially didn’t agree with his choices, she ultimately puts her feelings aside to support him, telling him she just wants him to be happy and will support whatever makes him so, because he’s her best friend.
Ali and Anton beamed as they walked toward the altar. During their vows, both admitted they’d had their share of arguments. Anton pointed out that anything worthwhile requires effort. While Anton was hopeful, Ali’s words hinted at a more cautious optimism – she shared that falling in love had been effortless, and they were confident they’d learned enough to build a future together.
In the end, Anton said he wanted to marry Ali, but she sadly responded that she couldn’t feel the same way. She explained that the person she connected with during their time in the pods wasn’t the same person she’d gotten to know outside of that environment, and she apologized. Heartbroken, Ali cried outside the wedding venue as her loved ones tried to comfort her. Meanwhile, one of Anton’s friends angrily lashed out at Ali, using harsh language.
Ali confided that she felt uncomfortable and insecure during the ceremony, despite wanting to feel confident. She attributes this to aspects of Anton’s life, including his social habits and even his diet. Anton seems confused about what went wrong and simply expressed his frustration. However, what stands out most in this situation is the strong support network surrounding both Ali and Anton. While Naiara might offer some criticism, it’s clear they’ll both have friends and family helping them cope with the breakup and get through this difficult time.
Kalybriah and Edmond
From the moment Edmond and Kalybriah arrived, they were clearly overcome with emotion. Edmond was excited, not nervous, and Kalybriah described him as a complex but loving man – someone she deeply cares for. She repeatedly expressed her love for him throughout the day. Even Kalybriah’s mother seemed happy with Edmond, offering her blessing and thanking him for being with her daughter.
I keep finding myself more emotionally invested in a different connection than the couple the show is about. Even though Edmond is disappointed his mother couldn’t be at the ceremony, his fifth-grade teacher, Jessie, is there. He considers her a lifesaver – she tutored him, made sure he had food, and helped him learn right from wrong. She tells him he inspires her teaching and encourages him to call her “Mom.” I first started to tear up when he said making her proud was incredibly important to him, and she responded by telling him she’s always been proud of him.
Following a heartfelt confession where Edmond expresses his faith and love for his son, KB, the wedding begins. Jessie proudly walks Edmond down the aisle, a moment made even more special as he uses her first name for the first time. At the altar, both Edmond and Kalybriah are moved to tears during his vows. He promises to take responsibility, mature as a person, and build the life they’ve always envisioned together. With confidence, he declares, “Bring on the challenges, I’m ready. I love you so much.”
During her vows, Kalybriah told Edmond not to be ashamed of who he is, because that’s what made her fall in love with him. She expressed her deep love for him and thanked him for helping her become a better person. However, as soon as Edmond said “I do” and it was her turn to speak, her face fell. Before she could even explain, Edmond cried out in pain as she revealed he deserves someone who can fully commit at the altar, something she doesn’t believe she can offer.
Everyone seemed downhearted, but things improved when Edmond and Kalybriah started making up – they were still very affectionate, hugging and offering apologies. Kalybriah sincerely apologized and emphasized their continued respect for each other, thanking Edmond for understanding her need to consider her doubts. It’s good to see Edmond handling things so calmly, unlike his angry outburst in Baja. They held hands and went off to talk privately, where Edmond hinted at potentially trying again sometime. While Kalybriah didn’t completely rule him out, referring to him as a significant learning experience suggests their relationship is likely finished.
Edmond walks away, clearly heartbroken, reminding people of the emotional scene in “Bet On It.” Jessie tries to cheer him up, pointing out he’ll have other opportunities to find someone special. She shares the same advice Kalybriah’s mother is giving her: it’s better to avoid a marriage that would have made them unhappy. Kalybriah agrees, admitting she would have been miserable if she’d accepted the proposal.
The show portrays Edmond in a very sympathetic light, emphasizing how likable he is. Watching him with Jessie, you genuinely want him to be happy and even wish they’d gotten married. However, his claim that he treated Kalybriah exceptionally well feels off, especially considering their often-contentious relationship. I understand why Kalybriah didn’t want a marriage where she’d constantly have to push him to improve – his vows suggested that’s what he expected. While he believes pressure creates diamonds, Jessie rightly points out that maybe Kalybriah is better suited as a sapphire. Edmond is clearly a good person loved by many, but he and Kalybriah simply weren’t a good fit for each other.
Megan and Jordan
With only a few minutes left in the episode, it becomes obvious there won’t be a wedding. Earlier, at her bachelorette party, Megan’s friends challenged her to think about whether she was ready to adapt her life and how much Jordan’s son influenced her decision. By the wedding day, she’s made up her mind. She tells Jordan she woke up feeling incredibly upset and realized they’re too different to make it work – like two people living completely separate lives. He tries to argue at first, but when she explains she needs a partner who’s more available and spontaneous, he asks why she chose him in the first place.
Megan explains she didn’t expect the relationship to feel so restrictive. He points out that he’s five years younger, implying he could become successful financially. However, Megan is focusing on her current feelings and concerns. She seems to be delivering the news carefully, possibly because Jordan has previously criticized her as being harsh. Instead of listing his flaws, she primarily expresses regret: she’s sorry she couldn’t love and accept him as he needed.
Jordan is clearly upset about the breakup, though he’s having trouble expressing it. Before leaving to get their son, he and Megan share a hug and she tells him she loves him, but he doesn’t reciprocate. Later, Jordan admits that he believes financial stability would have saved their relationship. He even confesses he regrets letting Megan meet his son, a painful admission. Ultimately, he feels she doesn’t love him for who he is, and that’s enough for him to move on.
Megan confessed she lost her head a little bit because she was so excited about Jordan being a single dad. However, the breakup isn’t just about him – she’s also questioning if she’s ready to be a mother at all. She realizes she needs to think this through before having a family, but she worries a child may have been hoping she’d become his stepmom.
Okay, so this season was…weird. There wasn’t a couple who actually made it to the altar, which left Netflix in a tough spot – they had to explain why they even did this season! They tried to spin it by showing a bunch of highlights and lowlights, and basically telling us that real love isn’t always a fairy tale. They want us to remember the good and the bad, even the breakups, as part of the journey for anyone who finds love, even through blind dates. And honestly, if you buy that, the big message seems to be that it’s okay to say no if things aren’t working outside of the pods, and that even if love is blind, it’s not enough to make a marriage work. But admitting that would kind of ruin the whole ‘weddings are the ultimate test’ thing, right? So instead, we got this…really empty speech about how love is just a bunch of little moments adding up to a story. Um…sure, okay! It just felt a little forced, you know?
Extra Engaged
Honestly, with everything already out there, there’s not a ton I can add right now. But I’m really looking forward to the reunion! I’m imagining it’ll be like a Netflix special – a chance for the season nine cast to really come together and, well, finish their story as a group, almost like they’re co-writing the final chapter.
I chatted with Joe about his dating podcast, and he shared that he’s a true romantic hoping to get engaged again. His girlfriend has also been giving interviews! But the biggest news for me this week is that Lauren and Cameron from the first season of Love Is Blind had a baby! After watching the latest season, it was a good reminder that the show can lead to lasting love, and honestly, the whole series was worth it just to see those two find each other.
