Los Angeles police shut down massive ‘Project X’ party

A huge Halloween party is getting a lot of attention online. Videos show a large crowd moshing, and many people are comparing it to the wild party scenes in the movie ‘Project X’.

On Friday, October 31st, Los Angeles police responded to noise complaints from residents on Oakdale Avenue in Woodland Hills, California. The complaints stemmed from a party that was happening in the neighborhood.

It wasn’t just a typical Halloween party. Video from KTLA 5 shows a massive crowd of people celebrating and having a great time.

KTLA news reported that hundreds, and possibly thousands, of people gathered. Videos showed a tightly packed crowd enjoying loud music.

People came dressed in fun costumes, and a lively mosh pit formed as everyone danced to upbeat music. Even when a police helicopter arrived with a bright spotlight, the partygoers didn’t stop.

Videos from the Halloween party went viral online, with many people comparing it to the movie ‘Project X.’ That 2012 comedy shows a high school party that spirals out of control, much like the one police had to stop on Halloween, which also drew a huge crowd.

Social media reactions have been surprisingly good overall, though many people also feel for the neighbors affected by the situation.

“Let these kids be kids, bruh,” one wrote.

Someone called Project X “one of the greatest movies ever made,” and added that it continues to inspire people of all ages to try and recreate its wild party scenes.

As of now, we don’t know who’s organizing the party or what inspired it. Interestingly, this isn’t the first event to be likened to the film.

A Netflix documentary from 2025 detailed a chaotic birthday party for a teenager. The party spiraled out of control after she accidentally made her Facebook invitation public, leading to an overwhelming number of uninvited guests, theft, fires, injuries, and multiple arrests.
