Combat & Character Control

Following valuable input from our community and thorough testing, we’ve significantly enhanced our combat system to boost character maneuverability, smoothness, and reactivity. These modifications aim to make it easier for novice players to jump in while providing advanced Lampbearers with more precision and control over their characters.

Roll Distance:

The adjustment made to the rolling distance aims to enhance player control and improve predictability. This change makes it easier for players to dodge attacks based on estimated weapon range, making the maneuver feel more instinctive and effective.

Recalibrated Stamina:

The overall stamina management has been adjusted to ensure smoother and more adaptable character handling, whether in or outside of battle scenarios.

Dodge/Animation Cancellation:

The time frame during which dodges or animations can be interrupted for smoother, enjoyable, and precise avoidance maneuvers has been expanded.

Grievous Strike Button Prompt:

As a passionate gamer, I’ve found myself struggling at times to determine when an adversary was susceptible to a Grievous Strike. To make gameplay smoother for us all, they’ve thoughtfully included an adjustable feature offering a prompt (R1 for PlayStation or RB for Xbox) when a Grievous Strike is feasible. This feature will be activated by default but can easily be disabled in the settings menu if preferred.

Quality of Life Enhancements Quick Item Selector:

According to feedback from players, we’ve introduced a feature that allows you to decide if new consumable items will automatically appear on your Quick Access bar or not. This gives you greater control over how you organize your inventory.

Automatic Vigor Pickup Toggle:

Just last week, we rolled out the long-awaited feature for automatic Vigor gathering in our game. While many players have welcomed this update, some have noted that this particular aspect was integral to the distinct charm and deeper immersion of Lords of the Fallen. To cater to a variety of playstyles, we’ve incorporated an adjustable setting within the game options menu. This allows you to switch on or off the automatic Vigor pickup feature according to your personal preference.

Umbral Enhancements:

In Umbral, both exit points and vestiges can now be utilized without the presence of enemies nearby, reducing frustration for players who were previously struggling to depart from Umbral.

Gerlinde Update:

Regarding Gerlinde, the skilled blacksmith, some players overlooked her crucial role, unaware of the opportunity to enhance their weapons and acquire specific weapon runes. To rectify this issue:

If players don’t locate Gerlinde initially, she will automatically relocate to Skyrest Bridge once the players have progressed to Forsaken Fen. This means that Gerlinde will always be within reach for the players.

  • Players finding Gerlinde in her starting prison cell can now utilize her services straight away, to prevent any extra trips to Skyrest Bridge later on. Later, she’ll head back to Skyrest Bridge.

  • Furthermore, finishing her mission and witnessing her relocate to Skyrest Bridge grants players three minor material upgrades as a reward.

Gameplay Fairness

Enemy Attack Ranges & Tracking:

Based on the positive responses to last week’s modifications in enemy attack ranges and tracking, we’ve extended these improvements to more enemies this week. Previously, certain enemies displayed unrealistic attack distances or aerial tracking that broke the game’s atmosphere and made enemies seem unbelievable. Our goal is to make combat feel both balanced and engaging, while preserving the original level of difficulty. To achieve this, we’ve implemented similar adjustments to additional enemies.

NG+ Adjustments:

To amplify the enjoyment and sense of achievement during combat, we’ve boosted the damage that Grievous Strikes inflict on regular opponents. This makes each victory feel more substantial and satisfying.

New Player Experience

NPC Beckon Adjustments:

Players now have the ability to summon an NPC companion prior to encountering a boss, allowing for a solo attempt or team-up with the NPC from the get-go. Furthermore, we’ve tweaked the NPC’s statistics based on your suggestions, enhancing their effectiveness in battle against bosses.

Damarose Positioning:

Damarose’s location has been slightly changed, bringing her nearer to the Golden Path, so that players are more likely to find her at the initial destination.

Doggo NPC Summon:

Fantastic news for fans of the ‘well-behaved’ dogs! You can now summon the Venerable Guardian Hound as an aid during boss battles. First, defeat Gentle Gaverus, the Mistress of Hounds, and give the fierce dog on Skyrest Bridge a friendly pat to enable this feature. The Hound has a unique skill to revive your health by barking when it’s low, although this beneficial action requires a significant wait time before it can be used again.

Bug Fixes

I resolved an uncommon issue where players might lose their Vigor upon death, for instance, during the climactic fight against Adyr.

●  Resolved an issue where the in-game music player would fail to play.

Resolved an issue where the music would fail during the fight against Pledged Knight Dervla, the formidable boss character.
