
Ian McKellen, a famous actor known for his role in The Lord of the Rings, recently shared exciting updates about the new movie, The Hunt for Gollum. The film, which tells a story leading up to the original trilogy, will be directed by Andy Serkis, who also played Gollum, and McKellen has announced when filming is scheduled to start.
At a recent fan event, Ian McKellen confirmed that both Gandalf and Frodo will be in the upcoming film, The Hunt for Gollum. He also announced that production is scheduled to begin in May 2026, putting an end to rumors about which original characters would return.
Filming will begin in May. The movie, which is all about Gollum, will be directed by him as well.
Let me share a couple of casting details with you. There are characters named Frodo and Gandalf in the movie, but I won’t reveal anything else right now.
