Live-Action Tangled Star Milo Manheim Addresses Playing Flynn Rider In Latest Disney Remake

Disney is bringing back Tangled with a live-action remake, more than 15 years after the animated movie first came out. Teagan Croft, known for her role in Titans, will play Princess Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim will play Flynn Rider, also known as Eugene Fitzherbert. They are still looking for an actress to play the villain, Mother Gothel, and Kathryn Hahn is reportedly a top contender.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, actor Milo Manheim admitted he’s feeling some pressure taking on the iconic role. “I’m definitely nervous – I won’t pretend otherwise,” he confessed. He explained he has a lot of respect for the character and the original film, which is one of his favorites, and wants to live up to fans’ expectations and deliver a performance they’ll enjoy.

He explained that he wants to stay true to the original cartoon and capture its essence. However, Manheim isn’t just worried about meeting fans’ expectations for the Tangled remake. He also admitted to being nervous about the physical challenges, saying he’s much less athletic than Disney seems to believe, especially when it comes to horseback riding and jumping on roofs.

Putting the jokes aside, James Manheim wants everyone to know he’s excited despite feeling a bit anxious. “I almost don’t want to admit I’m nervous,” he said. “We’re filming in Spain, and I’m really looking forward to traveling and exploring.” Manheim is also thrilled to be working with his co-star, whom he describes as “fantastic” and “a ray of sunshine.”

You know what scene I’m really excited to revisit? It’s the ‘I’ve Got A Dream’ sequence from the Snuggly Duckling! Honestly, imagining all those tough, burly guys belting out their dreams just cracks me up – it’s going to be amazing. I’m seriously looking forward to that moment.

Production on the movie Tangled is expected to begin in June, although Disney hasn’t announced when it will be released. While some believe it might come to theaters in 2027, Disney hasn’t officially confirmed a release date.
