As a longtime admirer of Linda Lavin’s exceptional talent, I am deeply saddened by the news of her passing. Though I never had the privilege of working with her, her impact on television and theater left an indelible mark on me as a fellow actor and a devoted viewer.
Lavin was not just a character actor; she embodied the spirit of each role she played, breathing life into every line and infusing humor, heart, and soul. From her Emmy-nominated work on “Alice” to her recent collaborations with Hollywood heavyweights like Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, and Allison Janney, Lavin’s performances were always a testament to her versatility, dedication, and sheer genius.
What strikes me most about Linda Lavin’s life and career is the warmth and kindness she exuded on and off-screen. Her colleagues’ tributes speak volumes about her impact as an artist and as a person. The stories of her ability to improvise in the face of adversity, like restarting a play due to a stuck window, are not just entertaining anecdotes but testaments to her fearless approach to her craft and her unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible performance.
In a world where authenticity often feels elusive, Linda Lavin was a shining beacon of truth and vulnerability. She will be deeply missed by her fans, colleagues, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
On a lighter note, I can’t help but imagine the heavenly improv sessions that must be taking place now, with Linda and some of the greats like Lucille Ball and Gilda Radner. Rest in peace, Linda Lavin. Your legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of anyone who ever laughed, cried, or marveled at your incredible talent.
Upon learning about Linda Lavin’s passing at the age of 87 on Sunday, my heart is filled with admiration as I reflect upon the moving tributes shared by her fellow cast members and colleagues within our cherished industry.
Lavin gained recognition as a versatile actor, particularly for her Emmy-nominated roles on the long-running CBS sitcom “Alice,” which aired from 1976 to 1985. More recently, she has been seen in films such as “The Intern” starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, as well as “Being the Ricardos” featuring Nicole Kidman.
As a huge fan who’s thrilled about the collaboration, I can’t help but express my admiration for the extraordinary talent that is Ian Gomez. Writing for him on “9JKL” years ago was an absolute pleasure, and getting the chance to work with him again on “No Good Deed” was nothing short of a blessing. His magnetic presence, combined with his impeccable comedic timing and unmatched grace, made every day on set a joy. The warmth and kindness he exudes are truly unparalleled, and it’s no surprise that we all adore him. Working with Ian has been an honor and a privilege that I will always cherish.

Sarah Paulson shared on Instagram her cherished moments with Lavin, posting a photo from their “Collected Stories” performance together, which she had framed. She reminisced about an instance when the window got jammed just five minutes into the play, and Lavin, in front of everyone, proposed they simply re-stage the production.

Paulson penned that the crowd erupted, cheering and chuckling uproariously. This was the essence of her unmatched stage presence; she recognized that the spectators had noticed a critical flaw, thus we couldn’t proceed as if nothing had happened – so we rectified it and started anew – and they remained with us.
