Special, limited-edition snacks inspired by the World Cup are on their way, but unfortunately, not every country will have its own unique flavor.
With just a few qualifying matches left, the focus is shifting to the upcoming World Cup. This year’s tournament will be hosted in the United States and will feature an expanded field of 48 teams, up from the traditional 32.
Beyond the games themselves, the World Cup is a major event for partnerships and festivities, particularly when it comes to food and drinks. McDonald’s, a key sponsor, often features special World Cup-themed items on its menu, and Coca-Cola typically releases limited-edition cans and bottles celebrating the tournament.
This year, Lay’s is releasing new chip flavors inspired by popular football (soccer) countries.
World Cup flavors of chips coming soon
Snackolator, a popular food blogger, recently highlighted three new snack flavors inspired by Argentina, Brazil, and France.
Lay’s is dropping some awesome new flavors! I’m super excited about the Argentine steak one – sounds amazing. They’re also doing a Brazilian garlic sauce flavor, and get this, wavy French onion soup chips! Seriously, French onion soup in chip form? I gotta try those.
Snackolator notes that these Argentine flavors, including Chimichurri, aren’t entirely new – they were previously featured in a collaboration with Lionel Messi, the team’s captain.

The blogger predicts these products will become available in April or May, giving shoppers a few weeks to buy them before the tournament begins.
It’s unlikely Lay’s will release many new flavors, as they’re repeating their strategy from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they only launched three.
It’s currently unclear whether these new flavors will be sold in Europe under the Lay’s brand, or in the UK as Walkers. Right now, it looks like they’ll only be available in the United States.
The UK company has launched its World Cup campaign, giving fans the opportunity to win tickets to see an England match this summer.
Before the World Cup kicks off, American food lovers can get free food at Wendy’s during the NCAA’s March Madness basketball tournament.
