As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of amusement and frustration when it comes to the latest announcement – Light of Motiram. On one hand, I applaud developers for drawing inspiration from successful titles. However, when the level of copying is as brazen as this, it’s hard not to chuckle at the audacity.
I must admit, as a passionate fan, I can’t help but notice the striking resemblance between some elements in the newly unveiled game “Light of Motiram” and other popular titles. While it’s common for developers to draw inspiration from others, the way certain solutions have been directly lifted here is nothing short of intriguing, even amusing at times.
- It’s a multiplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the last remnants of humanity live in primitive tribes, and the ruins of civilization, covered in thick vegetation, are patrolled by large robots that resemble wild animals.
- These realities are obviously copied from the Horizon series. Based on the screenshots and video materials, the developers of Light of Motiram borrowed the visual style from the Sony series to such an extent that if someone told me this is a spin-off of that brand, I would easily believe them. The devs were so audacious that they even put a red-haired heroine resembling Aloy on the first artwork.
Instead, let’s set aside any likenesses in appearance and focus on the gameplay mechanics. Just as in the Horizon series, players will have command over robots, but the developers intend to enhance this feature by drawing inspiration from games like Palworld.
The robotic creatures we’ll encounter will resemble the Pokemon from the popular series – you’ll be able to capture and train them, enhancing their skills. Each model is designed with distinct traits and a personal growth path, enabling customization to suit our requirements. Additionally, there will be extensive base construction and massive boss fights, reminiscent of Monster Hunter. You can either challenge other players or work together in this exciting experience.
The “Light of Motiram” is set to debut exclusively on PC platforms. You can find it on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Unfortunately, the developers have yet to disclose the official launch date.

Following the Avatar
The game known as “Light of Motiram” was created by Polaris Quest studio, a subsidiary of Tencent. A player noted that the art style in this game seems strikingly similar to that of the canceled project, Avatar: Reckoning. Since both games were developed under Tencent, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to speculate that certain aspects from the shelved Avatar: Reckoning might have been incorporated into the art design of Light of Motiram.
