The highly-anticipated European film “Ari,” directed by Leonor Serraille, will be distributed by Be For Films, led by Pamela Leu, in its world premiere competition at the Berlin Film Festival.
Ari is the next project by Serraille, following her work on “Mother and Son” (Un petit frere), which was showcased at Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Notably, her first feature film, “Jeune Femme,” earned the Golden Camera award at Cannes Film Festival back in 2017.
At the upcoming European Film Market, which coincides with the Berlinale, Be For Films will officially begin selling their new movie.
Ari” – Serraille’s Third Film
The story unfolds around a 27-year-old student teacher named Ari, who suddenly collapses during an unexpected school inspection. Frustrated by his failure, Ari’s father evicts him from their home. In the bustling city, feeling raw and abandoned, Ari is compelled to reconnect with old friends.
As memories of the past few months start surfacing, sometimes vividly, sometimes faintly, Ari realizes that others may not be as successful as he thought they were. This revelation makes him question whether he’s been living his life unconsciously.
I find it intriguing to mention that the director Serraille’s last two films centered around female leads. However, his upcoming project, “Ari,” offers a fresh perspective by delving into a man’s life story. The movie features an impressive cast including Andranic Manet, Pascal Reneric, Théo Delezenne, Ryad Ferrad, Eva Lallier Juan, Lomane de Dietrich, Mikaël-Don Giancarli, and Clémence Coullon.
Thrilled to attend the Berlinale to showcase ‘Ari’, alongside lead actor Andranic Manet and his fellow performers,” Serraille expressed, “as this movie embodies their spirit, their dialogue, their vibes, their power, and they’ve infused a piece of their generation into it.
Speaking about collaborating with Léonor Serraille again, Leu, the founder of Brussels-based company Be For Films, shared that they had been looking forward to this opportunity ever since the success of ‘Jeune Femme’.
In her newest movie, she continues to showcase her distinctive style within modern films, and we’re thrilled to share this with global viewers,” stated Leu.
The film “Ari” was created by Sandra da Fonseca and Grégoire Debailly, and it is a joint production between Geka Films (known for “Shéhérazade”) and Blue Monday Productions (famous for “Mother and Son”).
