With the 2026 Oscar nominations coming out on January 22nd, One Battle After Another is widely expected to be a major contender.

Critics loved the film, giving it a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers generally liked it too, with an 85% rating. However, it currently has relatively few ratings – around 5,000 – compared to most popular movies which have over 100,000. This means the score could change significantly, especially since the film is performing well on streaming platforms. One viewer called it ‘gripping and thought-provoking, staying with you long after the credits roll,’ and another shared a similar sentiment.
I really enjoyed this movie! The action was fantastic, especially the chase scenes, and the actors were perfectly cast. It’s great entertainment overall, even though a few parts touched on political themes – it wasn’t distracting though. Thanks to HBO Max for making it available.
