Leonardo DiCaprio Admits He Hasn’t Rewatched Titanic

However, he became a major Hollywood star after playing Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s hugely successful Titanic. The film established him as a handsome and versatile actor, setting the stage for a remarkable career. Interestingly, despite Titanic‘s massive success, DiCaprio admits he hasn’t watched it since its release in 1997, though he doesn’t express any dislike for the film.

Recently, the 51-year-old actor sat down with Jennifer Lawrence for an interview in Variety‘s Actors on Actors series. They discussed how they both started their careers and talked about their latest roles in the films One Battle After Another and Die My Love.

During a conversation, Lawrence mentioned Titanic and asked DiCaprio if he’d seen it recently. He surprisingly admitted it had been a long time, prompting Lawrence to encourage him to rewatch it, calling it a great movie. DiCaprio then revealed he generally avoids watching his own films.

The question arose after DiCaprio mentioned Boogie Nights again, and his inability to be in the film. When asked directly if he’d turned down Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie about the adult film industry, DiCaprio explained it was a bit more complicated. He said that production on Titanic and Boogie Nights happened around the same time, and it might have been possible to make it work if the timing had been different.

Leonardo DiCaprio recently collaborated with Paul Thomas Anderson on One Battle After Another, but he revealed they almost worked together on Boogie Nights years ago. He’s been impressed by Anderson’s career ever since, calling him an incredible filmmaker. In a conversation with Lawrence, DiCaprio also mentioned some directors he’d love to work with in the future, including Damien Chazelle and Michael Mann. He added that Anderson has always been a major influence for him.

Leonardo DiCaprio is having a busy year with Oscar talk surrounding his performance in the 2025 film One Battle After Another and his work on the upcoming Heat 2 sequel. Despite this, he’s scheduled to start filming a particularly exciting project in February 2026: a horror film directed by Martin Scorsese and co-starring Jennifer Lawrence – marking their first time working together.

The title is What Happens at Night, and it’ll be the feature adaptation of Peter Cameron’s ghost story novel of the same name. The movie, which still doesn’t have a release date, is backed by Apple Original Films and Studiocanal, and will bring DiCaprio and Scorsese back to horror territory after they made Shutter Island together. The synopsis reads as follows:

An American couple journeys to a remote, snow-covered European city to adopt a child. The trip is physically draining for the wife, who is battling cancer, and her husband fears her illness will jeopardize the adoption. They arrive at the Borgarfjaroasysla Grand Imperial Hotel, a vast and strangely empty place with a perpetually open bar and a peculiar group of guests – including an aging performer, a dissolute businessman, and a mysterious healer. As they navigate the challenges of the adoption process in this bewildering, icy landscape, the couple begins to question everything – their relationship, their identities, and the meaning of life itself.
