LEGO has announced a new building set for adults, based on the spacecraft from the science fiction movie ‘Project Hail Mary,’ which is adapted from Andy Weir’s book.
You can now preorder the 830-piece set for $99.99. LEGO says it will start shipping on March 1, 2026.
This detailed miniature model is a recreation of the Hail Mary spaceship, created for display. It features a rotating base that mimics the ship’s artificial gravity system. Builders can personalize it by adding minifigures of the characters Ryland Grace and Rocky, and it includes a stand so it can be easily placed on a desk or shelf.
As a LEGO fan, I was happy to see this set is designed for adults and older builders. Plus, it’s really cool that it works with the LEGO Builder app! You can spin the model around on your screen in 3D, which is awesome for seeing all the details, and the app helps you keep track of where you are in the instructions – a lifesaver when you’re building something complex!
LEGO Project Hail Mary set features rotating display stand and minifigures
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about the LEGO Project Hail Mary set! It comes with everything you need to build a detailed model of the spacecraft, and even includes a cool crank you can use to make the crew module orbit. Once it’s all built, it’s pretty impressive – over a foot tall, and about 9 and a half inches long and 8 and a half inches wide!
Besides the spaceship model, this LEGO set includes minifigures of Ryland Grace and Rocky, who are important characters in the story. LEGO designed this set as part of its Icons collection, meaning it’s intended for building and displaying rather than for active play.
I saw on the product page that this LEGO set would be awesome for any sci-fi geek, and LEGO actually suggests it looks great on display at home or even in the office. It’s part of their Icons line, which is basically a collection of really detailed, bigger builds you’re meant to show off – you can get those other sets separately if you’re into that.
Project Hail Mary is a science fiction story adapted from Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same name. The book quickly became popular and sparked conversation for its thrilling plot about surviving in space.
A movie based on the story will be released on March 20, 2026, starring Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. LEGO has created a new Icons set inspired by the spacecraft design from the film, joining their line of building sets based on popular upcoming releases.
