Now that Nintendo is releasing a new console to follow the Switch, fans are especially eager for popular games like The Legend of Zelda to be updated for the new system. While Nintendo Online offers a library of older games, it doesn’t replace the desire for fresh installments of these beloved franchises.
Okay, so everyone’s been asking for it for ages, but this Reddit post by Most-Coat4726 really hit the nail on the head – it perfectly summed up how much we all still want Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess on the Switch. Honestly, even if some people think it’s a long shot, a ton of us said we’d instantly buy a Switch 2 just to play either of those games! It’s that tempting.
Legend Of Zelda Fans Want One Thing
The Nintendo Switch has been incredibly popular, and Nintendo strongly protects its games from piracy, so it’s not surprising many people want simple access to classic titles like Wind Waker. While Nintendo does offer a way to play it now, it’s a bit complicated: you need the next-generation Switch console, a Nintendo Switch Online+ subscription, and you can only play the original GameCube version, not the updated Wii U version.
Even if it were simpler to find original copies of games like WWHD or TP, having all your beloved Zelda titles in one spot, updated with modern improvements and playable on mobile devices, is a fantastic experience for any fan.
It’s concerning that, even after almost ten years since the first Switch launched, many beloved games from the series are still unavailable on either the original Switch or the upcoming Switch 2, raising questions about the series’ future.
Where Are These Remasters?
The lack of updated versions of two classic Legend of Zelda games on the Switch remains a big puzzle, even if all we get are virtual console releases. Many fans, including one Reddit user named Sneeko, would prefer more than just a visual update – they’re hoping for quality-of-life improvements, even if Wind Waker is already playable on the Switch.
Fans are still eager for updated versions of both The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess. The recent success of the new Paper Mario game has given them hope that Nintendo will revisit other classic titles, specifically the most beloved games in The Legend of Zelda series.
