A League of Legends streamer and pro player got temporarily silenced and officially warned after sharing a story about her cat jumping onto her desk.
Online games are increasingly using AI to monitor chats, but this has led to problems, with many players being unfairly banned or muted for seemingly no reason.
Big developers like Riot and Blizzard have been no exception to this, with players being banned for typing “GGWP” or “nice shot.”
Apparently, even sharing about your pet Maine Coon cat can lead to issues, as professional League of Legends player Natalie ‘Stratospanda’ Kristiansen discovered.
LoL pro muted after talking about her cat in chat
Stratospanda shared on X that she received a message after a game saying an automated review found she had created a negative experience for other players.
The Twitch streamer faced criticism because of negative comments she made about one of her cats, as shown in a chat log.

The messages that caused a fuss were, “My cat is flopping,” “On my desk” and “maine coon.”
A screenshot from the player in Norway demonstrates that Riot Games quickly responded by issuing a warning about “zero-tolerance language” in her messages and silencing her for the remainder of the match.

The AI might have misinterpreted the name of the Maine Coon cat breed as offensive language, leading to potential mutes in the game. Players who own this breed may want to refrain from mentioning it to avoid being penalized.
This seems to be another case of something said in a game chat being misunderstood, and fortunately, it didn’t lead to a permanent ban.
A player was briefly banned in Overwatch 2 last year for calling another player a “noob,” and Blizzard later apologized for the ban, which quickly gained attention online.
