Even though Landman has ended, it’s hard for us to move on from the most peculiar aspect in Taylor Sheridan’s latest series.

While an official confirmation about Season 2 of Landman is yet to come, its remarkable streaming performance strongly hints at its likelihood. Yet, should Paramount decide to proceed with additional episodes, there’s one aspect that needs to be discarded – the element of doubt.

Although the Sheridan oil drama enjoyed popularity, it wasn’t immune to criticism. For instance, it faced accusations of misusing some of its leading actors. However, the most contentious aspect was undoubtedly the depiction of Tommy Norris’ teenage daughter, Ainsley, and her relationship with her father, which sparked much debate.

Safe to say, most would be happy to see less of this “disgusting” dynamic in the future.

Landman Season 2 should drop Tommy and Ainsley’s weird dynamic

In the town of Landman, Ainsley drew widespread scrutiny due to her candid discussions about her romantic affairs, involving not only her mother but also her father. Tommie (portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton) frequently expressed shock at his daughter’s remarks, and the sentiment was shared by others as well.

To put it another way, a particular scene from the first episode of Landman became quite popular online. This notable instance featured Ainsley and Tommy attending a football match where she openly discussed private aspects of her relationship with her boyfriend, including some explicit details about their intimate experiences together.

Despite Michelle Randolph, portraying Ainsley, justifying her character’s vocal demeanor, there are still plenty who remain uneasy following the series finale. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Landman isn’t the sole example of this pattern within the Sheridan series.

During the duration of Yellowstone, just like the series itself, Beth Dutton garnered a lot of similar reactions from viewers due to her unique and bold character within the Dutton clan. Unlike many, Beth was not hesitant about sharing intimate details of her life with her father, John, despite her strong-willed nature.

Instead of referring to him as “daddy” even as an adult, and discussing topics like threesomes with her reluctant father, there’s a lack of clear boundaries between Beth and her estranged father, who frequently reprimands her for her candid conversations with him.

However, unlike Yellowstone’s occasional parent-child tension, this element forms the bedrock of Landman. Yet, when this aspect triggers such discomfort among many viewers that they choose to stop watching, it might be wiser to simply move on from it.
