Tyler Sheridan’s popular show on Paramount+ is starting to see a decline in viewership. It’s been consistently watched since the second season premiered in November, but now that the season finale aired in January, it’s dropped to tenth place on the streamer’s most-watched list and is close to leaving the chart altogether.
I’m so proud of the success of Landman! It really delivered, becoming a huge hit for Paramount+. The second season absolutely smashed records, bringing in over 9.2 million views in just the first two days! That’s a massive 262% jump from the first season’s premiere, making it the biggest premiere of any original series on Paramount+ – and honestly, the show deserves all the praise it’s getting.
Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me at all that Paramount+ is bringing Landman back for a third season, even with Taylor Sheridan moving on to a deal with NBCUniversal. I spoke with co-creator and showrunner Christian Wallace, and he seemed incredibly optimistic about the future. He assured me there’s still tons of story left to tell, that the world they’ve built is huge, and that after just two seasons, they’ve really only scratched the surface of what they want to explore. It sounds like the creative team is confident they can keep this show going strong, even without Sheridan’s direct involvement.
Sheridan and Wallace created the series Landman, which features Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, and Sam Elliott. Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore also appear in supporting roles.
Landman Will Return for Season 3
I’m so impressed with his vision! He’s already thinking way ahead, even beyond Season 2, which is amazing. He’s said that while we’re all talking about what’s happening now, he’s already dreaming up future seasons and is genuinely thrilled about it. And honestly, the fans feel the same way – we’re all eager to see what he comes up with next! He’s got so much planned that we haven’t even seen yet, and it’s incredibly exciting.
He shared that he really enjoyed working with the cast and crew, many of whom he’d collaborated with previously on 1883. He especially loved filming in Texas again and expressed excitement about the future of the show, hinting at even more great things to come next season.
What We Know About Landman Season 3
Billy Bob Thornton has confirmed he’ll be back for Season 3 of Landman as Tommy Norris, despite recent false reports. He clarified that rumors about him leaving the show, and even a fabricated relationship with Demi Moore, are untrue. He expressed his enjoyment of the series, stating, “I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out, whether that’s five or six years.”
Ali Larter returns as Angela Norris, Tommy’s former wife who he got back together with in Season 2, in the third season of Landman. Michelle Randolph and Jacob Lofland are back as their children, Ainsley and Cooper. T.L. Norris, Tommy’s father, will also appear in Season 3.
The entirety of Landman Season 1 and Season 2 is streaming now on Paramount+.
