‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Songs Banned From School for Surprising Reason

A school in the U.K. is asking parents to discourage their children from singing songs from the popular Netflix movie soundtrack, “KPop Demon Hunters,” while at school. The school, Lilliput Church of England Infant School, sent a letter to parents explaining that some of the lyrics and themes about demons might conflict with students’ religious beliefs.

This exciting musical centers on a K-pop girl group who secretly use their singing to protect people from demons. However, the story takes a twist when it’s suggested that one of the group members might actually be connected to these demonic forces. The school that initially objected to the performance, as reported by the BBC, stated their concern was maintaining a Christian environment, believing demons represent everything against faith and goodness.

After a letter was shared about the movie KPop Demon Hunters, many parents told the school how much they appreciated its positive messages. The head teacher responded by acknowledging that the movie’s themes of bravery, collaboration, and kindness are good lessons for children, but also stated that Lilliput Church of England Infant School wants to respect the different beliefs of all its students and families.

We want to be clear: we’re not asking parents to discourage their children from enjoying the film or its music if they feel it’s appropriate for their family. We won’t be doing that at school either. Our goal is to help students understand that people have different beliefs, and to learn how to be respectful and supportive of those differences.
