The movie *KPop Demon Hunters* has been a huge hit since its release on Netflix this summer, becoming the streaming service’s most popular original film and performing well in a limited theatrical run. The movie’s soundtrack has also been incredibly successful, with the song “Golden” recently breaking records after spending six weeks at the top of the charts. However, it’s likely Taylor Swift’s new album will prevent “Golden” from achieving further success.
KPop Demon Hunters Just Broke Another Big Record
The soundtrack for *KPop Demon Hunters* is now the most successful of the decade, with its lead single, “Golden,” holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts for six weeks. This surpassed the five-week record previously set by “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from *Encanto* in 2022. To become the longest-charting soundtrack song ever, however, “Golden” will need to stay at No. 1 for more than twelve weeks.
Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s 2015 hit “See You Again,” featured in *Fast & Furious 7*, spent three months at the top of the charts. While I usually trust *KPop Demon Hunters*’ predictions, Taylor Swift is releasing a new album, *The Life Of A Showgirl*, next weekend.
However, I Fear Taylor Swift’s New Album Will Stop It From Beating The Next One
Taylor Swift consistently achieves number one hits when she releases new albums. For instance, the lead single from her recent album, *The Tortured Poets Department*, “Fortnight,” immediately topped the Billboard Hot 100 in May 2024. Her song “Anti-Hero” reached number one when *Midnights* was released in November 2022, and with that album, she made history as the first artist ever to claim all ten spots on the Hot 100 chart, according to Billboard.
Taylor Swift has already topped the Billboard charts twelve times, and with her new album dropping soon, she’s likely to break another record. Her fiancé, Travis Kelce, has been enthusiastically promoting the album, calling it full of ‘amazing songs,’ suggesting it will be a strong competitor to the current chart-toppers, including popular KPop music.
Although “Golden” probably won’t be as popular as “See You Again,” the animated film has been incredibly successful and will continue to be a topic of conversation, especially with the release of Taylor Swift’s new album. You can stream *The Life Of A Showgirl* starting October 3rd, and it will also be in theaters that same weekend.
