Perp Games and Project Cloud Games have revealed that their game, The Relic: First Guardian, will be released on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Relic: First Guardian is an action role-playing game drawing inspiration from Korean stories and legends. A unique feature of the game is that it doesn’t use a stamina system. Recently, Perp Games shared an 8-minute video showing gameplay, along with a trailer titled “The Love of a Family.”

Along with announcing when it will launch, Project Cloud Games is offering a sneak peek at its upcoming game, a captivating story inspired by folklore, filled with themes of love, loss, and unexpected heroes.

Tales of near-forgotten folk

In The Relic: First Guardian, you’ll discover pieces of lost stories with every step, much like hearing an old folktale passed down through time. By following these fragments, you’ll uncover the life of someone who lived there before, and it’s up to you to piece together their memories and keep them alive. Be warned: some stories are heartbreaking, and not all will have a complete ending.

A combat system as unique as your character

The combat system is designed to be both free-flowing and challenging. Players won’t use stamina when attacking, letting them focus on offense, while reserving it for blocking and dodging. Skills have cooldowns, but don’t require any other resources, creating a dynamic and adaptable experience. This approach lets each player find their own comfortable style and maintain a smooth, natural combat rhythm.

The combat system is enhanced by weapons designed with distinct emotional themes. Players can choose from five weapon types and explore twelve unique skill trees, allowing them to combine abilities and create a truly personalized combat style.

Equipment and growth

In Relic, finding a new weapon or piece of armor is different from other RPGs. Every item is one-of-a-kind in the entire game – like a legendary knight’s last sword or a shield that tells the tale of an old family promise. When you get a new piece of equipment, you’re not just getting stats, you’re also inheriting its unique story and past.

Instead of traditional levels, your character grows by finding ‘Relics’ – fragments holding the memories and feelings of past individuals. Each Relic offers one of over 70 unique benefits, changing how your skills work, the pace of combat, and even how different weapons perform. By carefully choosing which Relics to equip, you customize your character and define your playstyle, focusing on gathering experiences within the game world rather than simply increasing numbers.

The loss of a boss

Players will battle over 70 bosses, putting their weapons and skills to the ultimate test. Each boss has a tragic backstory, and defeating them will not only bring closure to those stories but also unlock their unique tale and provide a satisfying ending.

Legends never truly perish

I’m really getting into this game, The Relic: First Guardian. It’s all about finding these little fragments of lost memories and putting them back together. It’s not about epic battles or anything, but more about these quiet, personal stories – like an old, unread letter, or a kid hoping their dad will come home.
