Konami recently released a brief snippet of gameplay footage for the HD Remaster of Suikoden I&II, titled Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars. The video features a scene from Suikoden 2 where Riou enlists Mondo in Rokkaku.

Since the August Nintendo Direct: Partner showcase, where a March 6 release date for the Suikoden remasters was announced, there hasn’t been much new information shared. However, Konami did show about a minute of gameplay at Tokyo Game Show, and they’ve published two opening movies. Additionally, the Suikoden Twitter account has been teasing the release by posting a different character profile each day as a countdown.
The fresh video also offers a sneak peek into the revised English translation for the remake. I’ve transcribed the dialogue for both the remastered version and the original English PS1 release, which you can find further down, if you’d like to make a comparison.
The high-definition remaster of Suikoden I & II, titled “Gate Rune” and “Dunan Unification Wars,” is scheduled to launch on March 6th. This game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Remaster Dialogue
Hanzo: Do you truly expect me to believe you stumbled across a village as well-hidden as Rokkaku?
Kasumi: It has been a while, Lord Hanzo.
Sasuke: Oh, Kasumi!
Hanzo: Well, if it isn’t Kasumi! Are you not suppoed to be in the service of President Lepant?
As a devoted follower of Lord Hanzo: Though I bear the title of his loyal servant, President Lepant has commanded me to aid Commander Riou, the fearless leader of the Liberation Army.
Hanzo: Hmm… A wise decision, as I’d expect from President Lepant.
Kasumi: I concur, but let’s not underestimate the strength of the Highland Kingdom. Might it be possible to enlist Rokkaku’s aid too, if you don’t mind?

Kasumi: I’m with you, but remember the Highland Kingdom is formidable. Could we also get Rokkaku on our side, if that’s okay?
Hanzo: …Kasumi, is this another of Lepant’s orders?
Kasumi: Indeed, not so, my lord… However, I am convinced that aiding the Liberation Army serves the best interests of House Rokkaku too. In light of my position as your Vice-Chief, I humbly entreat you, Lord Hanzo, to consider this perspective.
Hanzo: Ah, the sparkle in his eyes reminds me of something. Mondo, Sasuke, please follow Kasumi and team up with Commander Riou for the battle ahead.
Mondo: It shall be as you ask. Hey, bet you’re happy to be back with Kasumi again, eh, Sasuke?
Sasuke: H-hey, what’s that supposed to mean? Don’t talk nonsense!
Mondo: Haha, look at him blush.
Kasumi: Um… Did I do something to upset him?
Mondo: No need to fret, Kasumi. Everything’s cool. He’s just being himself. I’m confident he’s hanging out nearby somewhere.
Hanzo: Well then, I’m counting on you, Mondo.
Mondo: It shall be done, Chief. Would you prefer I join you now, Commander?
Riou: Please do.
Mondo: Thanks for having me.

Hanzo: Are you implying that finding a secretive place like Rokkaku was merely a lucky accident for you?
Kasumi: I’ve missed you, Lord Hanzo.
Sasuke: Kasumi!
Hanzo: Aren’t you supposed to be with President Lepant?
Kasumi: Once upon a time, I was, my lord Hanzo. It was President Lepant who commanded me to aid Lord Riou, the commander of the Liberation Army.
Hanzo: Hmm… A wise decision, as I’d expect from President Lepant.
Kasumi: I concur, but be aware that the Highland Kingdom poses a significant threat. Might I request your aid in enlisting Rokkaku’s support too?
Hanzo: …………… Kasumi, are you here on Lepant’s orders?
Kasumi: Indeed, my lord, I disagree. However, I am convinced that aiding the Liberation Army serves the best interests of Rokkaku too. As Vice-Chancellor, this is my judgment, and I kindly request your understanding, Lord Hanzo.
Hanzo: Ah, the sparkle in his eyes… It reminds me of something. Kasumi, take Mondo and Sasuke with you, and lend your aid to Lord Riou in battle.
Mondo: It shall be as you ask. Hey, bet you’re happy to be back with Kasumi again, eh, Sasuke?
Sasuke: What… What’s that supposed to mean? I’m not… Shut up!
Mondo: Heh heh. Did you see him blush?
Kasumi: Um… Did I do something to upset him?
Mondo: Don’t worry about it, Kasumi. He’s always like this. I’m sure he’s around here somewhere.
Hanzo: I’m counting on you, Mondo.
Hanzo: I won’t let you down, sir. Shall I accompany you now, Lord Riou?
Riou: Yes.
