Kojima spends so much time testing Death Stranding 2 that he’s missing sleep. „I fell asleep twice while on a delivery”

As a fervent admirer of the enigmatic and visionary mind that is Hideo Kojima, I cannot help but be captivated by the latest updates from Death Stranding 2: On The Beach’s development process. It’s not every day we witness the trials and tribulations of a master storyteller who has fallen asleep twice during a gameplay test, nor do we often hear tales of a legendary creator meeting an untimely demise at the hands of a runaway vehicle.

Developing Video games like Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is often far from an effortless, enjoyable experience. In fact, the process was so arduous for Hideo Kojima that he dozed off not once, but twice during the virtual presentation, and even experienced a mishap where a vehicle ended up at the foot of a cliff.

Ayako Terashima, the assistant to the Japanese game developer, recently shared a post featuring Kojima testing the current version of Death Stranding 2. Remarkably, one of her recent posts caught the attention of the developer himself, who left a comment on it.

According to his statement, he’s been experiencing sleeplessness lately, leading to the instances where he dozed off while testing the current version of DS 2. It seems this wasn’t a one-time occurrence, as suggested by Terashima’s post from December 6. Perhaps that’s why the subsequent photos show him with his back turned or wearing sunglasses.

Less malicious players might tease that Kojima’s tiredness stems not from intense work, but from the monotonous gameplay of the upcoming sequel to the well-known “walking simulator.” However, it is worth noting that Kojima himself has confirmed his attendance at The Game Awards 2024, scheduled for December 13 (as announced by Geoff Keighley on X).

As an ardent supporter, I can’t help but speculate that the talented Kojima Productions team might be tirelessly working to unveil Death Stranding 2 at the upcoming event. I fully understand the immense pressure such a task carries for the dedicated developers.

In 2025, it’s expected that “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” will debut on PlayStation 5 (initially, with a potential release on PC at a later time similar to the first game).
