Air Ride is a fast-paced race where you compete against five other players, trying to knock them off course and collect stars from their trails to boost your speed. It’s a simpler, more direct racing experience. City Trial, on the other hand, is a chaotic online battle with up to 16 players. You’ll grab power-ups, avoid obstacles like falling meteors, fight challenging bosses, and compete against other players in arena-style events.
After a 20-year hiatus, director Masahiro Sakurai announced Kirby Air Riders in August 2025, describing it as very similar to Mario Kart. If you enjoy Mario Kart, you’ll likely enjoy this new racing game. Sakurai also confirmed that there won’t be any downloadable content released for it, stating that the game will launch with everything included.
Kirby Air Riders hits Nintendo Switch 2 on November 20.
