If you were looking forward to playing Kingmakers, which was scheduled to launch on Steam next week, I’m sorry to share some disappointing news.
Developer Redemption Road shared news today that the game’s release is being delayed. Currently, they haven’t announced a new release date. We’ll share more information as soon as it becomes available. Learn more here.
The team announced that the Kingmakers launch planned for October 8th has been delayed. They stated, “After careful consideration, we’ve determined that the original launch date is no longer feasible.” They also apologized to fans who were excited about the game, expressing their regret for the disappointment.
Kingmakers initially gained popularity by providing a medieval combat sandbox, but with a special feature: you play as a character who has traveled from the future, armed with contemporary weapons, and battles your way through large-scale, real-time conflicts.
Here’s Why Kingmakers Is Being Delayed
The team continued their announcement by explaining the reasoning behind its delay.
Simply put, this is a very ambitious and detailed game, and we’re committed to including all the features we’ve planned – we don’t want to rush the release by cutting content. From the beginning, our aim has been to develop a truly unique experience, standing apart from everything else available in terms of how it plays, its size, the breadth of its content, and how players can interact with it.
So, the team at Redemption Road told me they’re really trying to max out the Unreal Engine 4 – like, push it to its absolute limits. But they also want everyone to be able to run the game smoothly, aiming for a solid 60 FPS, even on computers that aren’t super high-end. They don’t want to compromise on quality to get there either. I’m guessing that’s why they decided to delay the release – they want to make sure they hit that sweet spot of awesome graphics and performance. You can find more info on their website, by the way.
I use the word ‘presumably’ because the announcement sounds more like a promotional advertisement. It heavily emphasizes what the game will offer, such as easy-to-join and leave 4-player co-op, huge battles with thousands of enemies, and, as they stated, “AI and pathfinding that rivals what you’d expect from a AAA third-person shooter.” Also, let’s not forget the promise of multiple endings, too. It’s quite a list of features.
The only detail missing, though, is when it will actually be released, so keep that in mind. We’ll have to wait and see if Kingmakers lives up to expectations and is ever officially launched.
